Job Objective
The Unit Manager – QA will be responsible for leading and strengthening Quality Assurance activities related to outsourced operations, contract laboratories, inspection agencies, international customers, donor agencies, procurement organizations, healthcare partners and strategic collaborators.
The role will combine Quality Assurance leadership, outsourced quality management, international stakeholder management, global funding/access programs and business development support, ensuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements while supporting organizational business objectives and access strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance & Quality Management
- Lead and strengthen Quality Assurance activities across outsourced operations and external partners.
- Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485 and EU GDP quality requirements, as applicable.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, risk mitigation, quality loss prevention and continuous improvement.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, FMEA and deviation-management activities.
- Monitor quality performance indicators and prepare management dashboards and reports.
- Ensure timely closure of quality-related observations, deviations and audit findings.
2. Outsourced / Contract Laboratory Management
- Manage relationships with contract laboratories, outsourced testing agencies and inspection agencies.
- Ensure timely preparation, review and approval of analytical methods, protocols and method-verification reports.
- Review analytical queries, OOS investigations and other laboratory-related quality issues.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews with contract laboratories and outsourced partners.
- Ensure appropriate quality agreements, contracts and performance expectations are maintained.
- Conduct / coordinate verification audits of contract laboratories and external service providers.
3. Global Funding & International Programs
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with Global Fund, donor agencies, procurement organizations, healthcare partners and other international funding/access organizations.
- Support activities related to global funding projects, donor-funded programs and international procurement/access initiatives.
- Understand customer/donor requirements and coordinate internally to ensure timely and compliant execution.
- Prepare business reviews, presentations, reports and briefing materials for international customers, funding organizations and access partners.
- Coordinate with internal Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, Supply Chain and other functions for successful execution of global projects.
- Identify quality, compliance and operational risks associated with international funding and procurement programs and ensure timely mitigation.
4. Sales, Marketing & Business Development Support
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Business Development teams to support business growth in international and institutional markets.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements, market needs and competitor practices.
- Support customer acquisition, retention and relationship-management initiatives.
- Participate in customer meetings, business reviews, presentations and strategic discussions.
- Provide technical and quality inputs during business development activities, tenders, institutional business and international customer engagements.
- Identify opportunities for improving customer satisfaction, market positioning and business performance.
- Support commercial teams in addressing technical, quality and compliance-related customer requirements.
5. Stakeholder & Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, international customers, donor agencies, Global Fund, outsourced laboratories and inspection agencies.
- Act as a key interface between internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Conduct regular business/performance review meetings.
- Handle customer escalations and coordinate timely resolution of critical issues.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Represent the organization professionally in international and cross-functional settings.
6. Audits, Complaints & Deviations
- Plan and conduct internal, supplier, contract laboratory and verification audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and compliance gaps.
- Manage quality complaints and coordinate investigations with relevant functions.
- Ensure proper investigation and timely closure of deviations.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and implement preventive actions.
- Maintain audit readiness for international customers, donor agencies and external inspection bodies.
7. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Lead, mentor and develop QA and cross-functional teams.
- Build a strong quality-first and customer-focused culture.
- Conduct training on quality systems, RCA, CAPA, FMEA, compliance and relevant technical requirements.
- Drive performance improvement through data analysis, benchmarking and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide strategic quality insights to senior management through dashboards, trend analysis, risk reviews and performance reports.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience teams.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or a related field.
- Additional qualification in Management / Operations / Supply Chain will be an advantage.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Management within pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing or related industries.
- Strong experience in QA, outsourced operations, contract laboratories, supplier quality, audits and quality systems.
- Experience working with international organizations, donor agencies, healthcare partners, pharmaceutical companies or global procurement/funding programs.
- Exposure to Global Fund / donor-funded / international funding projects will be highly preferred.
- Experience working closely with Sales, Marketing, Business Development or Commercial teams is required.
- International customer / stakeholder management experience will be an advantage.

Preferred Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a senior QA professional with 10+ years of experience, combining strong Quality Assurance and outsourced quality-management expertise with international stakeholder management, Global Funding / donor-program exposure and Sales & Marketing / Business Development experience.
The candidate should be capable of operating independently at a Unit Manager level and effectively connecting Quality, International Business, Global Funding, Sales & Marketing and external stakeholders to achieve both compliance and business objectives.
Pay: ₹1,800,000.00 - ₹2,200,000.00 per year
