Job Description: Civil Engineer (Construction & Maintenance)

Institution:
GIFT Autonomous, Bhubaneswar, a College of Repute imparting Diploma, B.Tech, M.Sc, M.Tech, MCA, MBA, PhD, BBA, and BCA programs. Students are mainly from Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. GIFT Autonomous is seeking a proactive and dynamic Civil Engineer to oversee construction, maintenance, and facility management activities across the campus.

Position: Civil Engineer

Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: Approximately ₹20,000 per month (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

About the Position

We are seeking a motivated and responsible Civil Engineer to oversee construction, maintenance, and housekeeping-related infrastructure activities. The candidate will be involved in the planning, execution, supervision, and quality control of residential, institutional, and industrial building projects, as well as the maintenance of existing facilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in civil construction, site supervision, or maintenance works.
Working knowledge of construction materials, estimation, quality control, and building maintenance practices.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in MS Office and basic engineering software will be an added advantage.

Key ResponsibilitiesA. Construction Project Supervision

Supervise construction activities for residential, institutional, and industrial buildings.
Monitor site progress and ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Verify measurements, prepare work progress reports, and maintain project documentation.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and construction best practices.
Monitor material usage and assist in cost control measures.

B. Building Maintenance

Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of buildings, roads, drainage systems, water supply systems, and other civil infrastructure.
Inspect facilities regularly and recommend repair and renovation works.
Coordinate maintenance contractors and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
Maintain records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and infrastructure assets.

C. Housekeeping Supervision

Supervise housekeeping staff and outsourced housekeeping agencies.
Monitor cleanliness and upkeep of buildings, classrooms, offices, hostels, common areas, roads, and surrounding premises.
Ensure proper waste management and sanitation practices.
Conduct regular inspections and address housekeeping-related deficiencies.

D. Administrative & Reporting Functions

Prepare estimates, bills, work orders, and maintenance reports.
Maintain records of materials, labour deployment, and contractor performance.
Assist management in infrastructure planning and facility improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties related to civil works and facility management as assigned.
