Job Title: Junior Staff Nurse.
Reports to: Nursing Head
Job Purpose
Under the direction of Staff Nurse or Senior Nurse, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates outcomes of professional nursing care for patients in accordance with CCA policies. Beginning knowledge and exposure to lead nurse and preceptor responsibilities as assigned. Assists Staff Nurse and Senior Nurse, assists the physician and performs related clinic duties. Plans and provides patient/family teaching. Beginning skill level in recognizing oncology emergencies.
Minimum Requirements
The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
Education and formal Training:
Current licensure as a RN in facility state.
Current CPR required.
Requires CCA Oncology Training Programme at first available class.
Work Experience:
Fresher or 1 year in other speciality
Knowledge, skills, and Abilities Required:
Demonstrated verbal, written skills and positive interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated potential for effective organizational, teaching and leadership skills.
Knowledge of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients served.
Visual and auditory acuity for accurate patient assessment.
Physical Requirements: Work requires long periods of standing, walking, or sitting and occasional assistance with heavy lifting.
May be required to work variable shifts or weekends.
Age of Patients Served: Paediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric
Responsibilities

1. Service Excellence: Actively demonstrates CCA values in the areas of Attitude, Appearance, Communication, Customer Requests, and Commitment to Co-workers, Customer waiting, Etiquette, Privacy and Sense of Ownership. Utilizes CCA values as a framework for all activities. Maintains an atmosphere of caring, concern and support for all patients.
2. Clinical Practice: Performs nursing process with assistance -assesses the patient and identifies evidence-based nursing diagnosis; determines plan of care with patient input, organizes, implements, and evaluates care provided and outcomes achieved; demonstrates continuous skill and knowledge base development.Assesses patient’s nutritional status and provides dietary counselling and information. Beginning skill in in providing nursing care as required by the patients in the clinic including fundamental patient care, comfort measures, emergency procedures, medication administration, and other nursing functions needed to ensure patient comfort and safety. Under the direction of the Senior Nurse, teaches patients/family ranging from paediatrics to geriatrics, about their disease, its treatment, and ways to minimize treatment side effects. Provides emotional support to patients and families. Assists physicians during patient exams and procedures performed in the clinic. Assists in coordinating the scheduling of patient consultations, procedures, simulations, and follow-up visits. Beginning skill in medication admixture including concepts, use of hood and protective equipment. Assists with equipment maintenance logs (e.g., Department stock, crash cart, refrigerator, temperature logs etc.).
3. Safety: Provides a safe physical and emotional environment for self, co-workers, and patients; safely administers medications; recognizes side effects, life threatening situations and reports problems immediately for follow-up and resolution. Manages drug inventory and expirations dates of medication and supplies. Beginning skill in personal protective equipment concepts and use.
4. Information Management: Maintains an accurate, legible, timely and relevant record of patient care that also supports appropriate charge capture. Communicates information accurately and timely; provides patient and co-workers education. Maintains strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data and complies with HIPAA guidelines and all applicable laws and regulations related to CCA business. Communicates and collaborates effectively with co-workers, Pharmacist, Front Office, and Physicians.
5. Work Management: Efficiently and effectively completes assignments; demonstrates beginning skill in appropriate priority setting; maintains healthy work-life balance by resolving system issues that prevent completion of duties by end of business day. Assists with scheduling of required outpatient lab tests, x-rays, scans, etc. a needed. Performs other clinic related responsibilities as required.
6. Professional Development: Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for own performance and professional growth; maintains required certification, licensure, and credentialing; attends national conference and shares information obtained with co-workers upon return. Communicates to inpatient staff and referring physicians’ treatment related information as needed. Assists in the instruction of referring physician, and nursing staff regarding radiotherapy chemotherapy and its side effects. Assists in the orientation and training of co-workers as assigned.
7. Performance Improvement: Participates in clinic and corporate performance improvement activities.
