What impact you’ll make:
As Research Engineer – Aero-Thermal Sciences, you will collaboratively execute turbomachinery aerodynamics/heat transfer and/or combustion technology, research & development programs for GE Vernova’s businesses. You will interact with personnel at GE Vernova Advanced Research & GE Vernova to develop and deliver novel Aero-Thermal technologies for Energy Transition.
What you’ll do (Roles and Responsibilities):
- Apply your knowledge in aeromechanics/aerodynamics/heat transfer/combustion and/or thermal management to develop innovative aerothermal/mechanical solutions for GE Vernova product portfolio
- Develop ideas and concepts, and mature technologies through various readiness levels (TRL), to im
- prove thermal management for GE Vernova products. Independently interpret the analysis results & participate in innovation to suggest and generate the ideas
- Deliver technical projects meeting schedules and budgets, implement plans with minimal guidance to meet technical requirements and document results
- Independently execute Aerodynamics, steady, and unsteady analysis for stationery & rotating components of various GE Vernova products using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, leveraging latest technology and meeting product requirement.
- Participate in multi-generation technology programs to enable future design advancements, while independently executing tasks leveraging your technical skills
Network and collaborate with GE Vernova and Advanced Research team members to identify opportunities for innovation, build plans and execute on technical projects
- Leverage available expertise in the team and collaborate with CTHs to deliver Quality results with minimum rework and quality misses.
- Uses good level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters with minimum guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks with detailed understanding of underline physics.
- Independently document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with advance research best practices.
What you’ll bring (Required Qualifications):
- M.Tech. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering/Applied Mechanics specializing in Aerodynamics/Heat Transfer/Thermal Management/Combustion with minimum 6 years of experience or PhD in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering/Applied Mechanics specializing in Aerodynamics/Heat Transfer/Thermal Management/Combustion with minimum 3 years of experience
- Demonstrated fundamental knowledge in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), aero-thermal sciences, combustion, evidenced by advanced graduate coursework and projects.
- Fundamental knowledge in Aerodynamics/thermodynamics/heat transfer and/or combustion
- Solid understanding of the numerical techniques and solvers, with a firm footing on the first principles and the underlying physics of mathematical formulations.
- Sound understanding of Wind Turbine/Gas Turbine/Steam Turbine/Power Plant Equipment, including Balance of Plant Equipment
- Demonstrated ability and experience in thermal/combustion and/or flow Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Experience with commercial software (FLUENT, CFX etc.) or/and software developed at universities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Experimental knowledge of combustion, aerodynamics, heat transfer
- Advanced computational skills from “start-to-finish” to provide physics-based insights to guide design and innovation
- Ability to do a State-of-the-Art Survey on certain technologies and awareness/engagement with leading research groups globally in the domain of interested Technologies.
- Awareness of High-Performance Computing Algorithms and supporting hardware.
- Experience in performing design trade-off studies and design optimization
- Exposure to prototype/ engine Tests, experience with data mining/processing and building models
- Understanding of Energy Transition Space and technologies/solutions to navigate the transition
