Job Description – Senior Software Engineer (Level 4)

Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer Level 4 is a technical anchor responsible for leading complex development efforts, designing scalable components, improving engineering standards, and guiding junior engineers. The role demands strong technical depth, architectural thinking at a component/system level, and effective use of AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development of critical modules or cross-team features.
- Create component-level designs, architecture diagrams, and reusable frameworks.
- Write scalable, high-performing, and secure code aligned with best practices.
- Drive code reviews, mentor Level 1–3 engineers, and uplift overall code quality.
- Plan and execute performance optimization, refactoring, and modernization initiatives.
- Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architects for seamless delivery.
- Influence engineering practices (coding standards, testing, CI/CD, documentation).
- Use AI tools for rapid design exploration, code acceleration, testing, and documentation support.

Required Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Core Java, JSP Servlet, Spring boot, Microservices, API design, and modular architecture.
- Strong debugging, performance analysis, and system-level problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of design patterns, integration patterns, and security practices.
- Proficient in SQL queries, query tuning, indexing, and relational database design.
- Working knowledge of Azure/AWS for deployments, monitoring, and basic cloud-native patterns.
- Skilled in using AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI) for design suggestions, code generation, and automation.
- Ability to incorporate AI into development workflows effectively.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, messaging, or event-driven architectures.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and propose architectural improvements.
