The Faculty of Communication at FLAME University is inviting applications for the position of full-time Associate Professor in Journalism.

FLAME University, Pune (Maharashtra, India), is the pioneer of liberal education in India. With a strong focus on interdisciplinary research and teaching, the Faculty of Communication has recognized strengths in Advertising, Branding, Digital Marketing, Film & Television Management, Journalism and other new age forms of media managementt. It provides an environment for faculty to conduct independent and collaborative interdisciplinary research, create industry-academia linkages and contribute to the growth and development of the university. FLAME University offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs that allow students to gain rigorous interdisciplinary training and opportunities to complement their research activities, build networks/professional references, and advance their career aspirations. Overall, the Faculty of Communication stands for intellectual freedom, curiosity, and academic integrity.

The Department of Media & Journalism nested under the Faculty of Communication, offers specializations in Advertising & Branding, Digital Marketing & Communications, Film & Television Management and Journalism.The Faculty of Communication at FLAME University is inviting applications for the position of full-time Associate Professor in Journalism.

While we welcome applicants from any area of Journalism, we are particularly interested in applicants with an expertise in areas such as Introduction to Journalism, Business Journalism, Business of New Media, Communication Theory, Digital Journalism, Sports Journalism, News Editing and Production, Investigative Journalism, Photo Journalism, Data Journalism, Audio Journalism, Government and Public Affairs Reporting, Communication Research, Environmental Journalism Political Economy of Media, Science, Health.

Those with a mix of experience in academia and industry will be preferred. A Ph.D. from a reputed university is required at the time of application. Minimum ten years of teaching/research/industrial experience with three years as post Ph.D. experience. Seven research publications out of which two are in high quality journals.

Faculty responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching, advising students, participating in faculty colloquia, and academic administration. Our expectation is that a successful applicant will:

1. Undertake independent high-quality research as well as work actively with existing members to build a strong interdisciplinary community of scholars who are committed to delivering cutting-edge research and innovation

2. Translate research findings into evidence-based practices, programs and policies

3. Remain committed to excellence in teaching- a core value of FLAME University- and adopt creative pedagogies that foster cultures of inclusion and diversity

4. Contribute to the department and university’s service requirements
