Job Description: VMware L3 Engineer with Automation
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled VMware L3 Engineer with strong expertise in automation frameworks to join our infrastructure team. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, architecture design, and automation of VMware environments to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
VMware Infrastructure Management
Handle complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and provide L3 support for VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, and vSAN.
Automation Development
Design and implement automation scripts/workflows using PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, or vRealize Automation to streamline operations.
Performance Optimization
Monitor and fine-tune VMware clusters, storage, and networking for optimal performance.
Disaster Recovery
Develop and maintain DR strategies, backup solutions, and failover testing.
Security Compliance
Ensure VMware environments adhere to organizational and industry security standards.
Documentation Knowledge Sharing
Create detailed runbooks, SOPs, and mentor junior engineers.
Required Skills
VMware Expertise: Deep knowledge of vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN.
Automation Tools: Proficiency in PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, vRealize Automation.
Scripting Skills: Strong in PowerShell and Python for automation.
Networking Knowledge: Understanding of VLANs, VXLANs, firewalls, and load balancers.
Storage Systems: Experience with SAN/NAS and VMware vSAN.
Troubleshooting: Ability to resolve complex L3 issues independently.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, or VCIX preferred).
6–10 years of experience in VMware administration with at least 3 years in L3 support and automation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure in mission-critical environments.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Passion for automation and continuous improvement.
