Job Summary

Mandatory Technical Competencies :
Strong hands-on enterprise RDBMS administration and performance engineering; Oracle expertise is highly desirable for typical Windchill estates, with equivalent deep skills required if the client uses another supported RDBMS. Advanced SQL performance troubleshooting, execution-plan analysis, indexing and optimizer/statistics concepts. Database diagnostic and workload analysis using native performance repositories/reports and enterprise monitoring platforms. Deep understanding of waits, locking, concurrency, memory, CPU and storage/I/O performance behavior. Database capacity planning, growth forecasting, backup/recovery and HA/DR concepts. Linux/Unix and/or Windows server fundamentals sufficient to correlate OS resource behavior with database performance. Ability to analyze performance across database, application, network, storage and virtualization boundaries without prematurely attributing causality. Strong technical documentation and executive communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge / Experience

Experience supporting PTC Windchill or another large-scale PLM/engineering application. Automotive OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing environment experience. Experience with globally distributed users and multi-region enterprise application performance assessments. Exposure to VMware/virtualized infrastructure, SAN/NAS/storage performance and enterprise observability platforms. Experience working with performance test teams and tools such as JMeter/LoadRunner or equivalent. ITIL-based change, incident and problem management practices.

Experience Profile

9-12 years of database administration / database performance engineering experience. Demonstrable experience leading performance diagnostics for business-critical enterprise databases. Experience producing client-facing assessment reports, RCA documents and remediation roadmaps. Experience collaborating with application architects, developers, infrastructure, storage and network SMEs. Prior exposure to manufacturing/PLM workloads is strongly preferred. 6. Detailed Roles & Responsibilities Lead database discovery sessions with Windchill architects, administrators, developers, infrastructure, storage and application support teams. Review database topology, version/edition, instance configuration, schemas, tablespaces/datafiles, memory allocation, CPU entitlement, storage layout, HA/DR design, backup/recovery approach and operational dependencies. Establish workload profiles for business hours, regional peaks, batch windows, integrations, indexing, publishing, workflow processing and maintenance windows. Collect and analyze database performance evidence using platform-native diagnostic repositories/reports and approved enterprise monitoring tools. Analyze DB time, CPU consumption, physical/logical I/O, cache efficiency, wait events, sessions, connections, concurrency, locks, blocking, deadlocks, latches/mutexes and transaction behavior. Identify expensive, frequently executed and high-variance SQL statements; assess execution plans, access paths, joins, cardinality estimates, statistics quality, bind behavior and plan stability. Assess indexes for effectiveness, redundancy, fragmentation/bloat and maintenance requirements while considering Windchill/PTC supportability constraints. Review optimizer and database configuration parameters against workload requirements and vendor-supported practices; avoid unsupported blanket tuning recommendations. Assess memory pressure and allocation across database caches/areas
