Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Production Manager with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Sheet Metal Manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling production activities to ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and resources while achieving production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
· Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
· Ensure timely completion of production orders as per customer requirements.
· Monitor production output and take corrective actions to achieve targets.
· Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Stores, Purchase, and Dispatch departments for smooth operations.
· Ensure optimum machine utilization and productivity improvement.
Sheet Metal Manufacturing Operations
· Manage sheet metal fabrication processes including:
o Laser Cutting
o Bending
o Welding
o Grinding & Finishing
o Assembly Operations
· Ensure adherence to process parameters and manufacturing standards.
· Monitor production flow and eliminate bottlenecks.
Team Management
· Lead, supervise, and motivate production supervisors, operators, welders, fabricators, and helpers.
· Allocate manpower effectively to meet production requirements.
· Conduct employee training and skill development programs.
· Evaluate employee performance and provide continuous feedback.
Quality Management
· Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
· Coordinate with the Quality Department to reduce rework and rejection.
· Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes.
Production Monitoring & Reporting
· Monitor daily production performance against targets.
· Maintain production reports, machine utilization reports, and efficiency reports.
· Analyze production losses and implement improvement measures.
· Present production MIS reports to management.
Cost Control & Productivity Improvement
· Reduce material wastage and optimize resource utilization.
· Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
· Monitor production costs and improve operational efficiency.
· Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Safety & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with company safety policies and statutory regulations.
· Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
· Promote a safe and disciplined working environment.
· Ensure proper use of PPE by all employees.
Maintenance Coordination
· Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
· Ensure minimal machine downtime.
· Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements.
Inventory & Material Management
· Coordinate with Stores for raw material availability.
· Monitor consumption of materials and minimize wastage.
· Ensure proper handling and storage of sheet metal components and finished goods.
Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of Sheet Metal Fabrication Processes.
· Expertise in Production Planning and Control (PPC).
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and OEE.
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing standards.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP Systems, and Production Reporting.
Educational Qualification
· Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
· Additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Production Management will be an added advantage.
