Job Description: Academic Mentor
Role Overview
The Academic Mentor plays a defining role in driving student success within our Integrated School Program. This specialized program seamlessly bridges the gap between Class 11–12 Board syllabus and competitive exam preparation (NEET/JEE).
Key Responsibilities
1. Data-Driven Academic Monitoring & Evaluation
- Performance Analysis: Regularly evaluate student progress across Daily Practice Problems (DPPs) and Chapter-Wise Exams (CWEs) for Board, NEET, and JEE syllabi.
- Trend Identification: Utilize data logs to pinpoint performance trends (improvement, stagnation, or decline) and address discrepancies (e.g., a student excelling in Boards but struggling with competitive MCQs).
- Targeted Interventions: Design and execute weekly corrective strategies and focused practice sessions for struggling students to ensure measurable growth.
- Balanced Evaluation: Adapt DPP grading styles to evaluate both descriptive depth (for Board exams) and speed/precision (for NEET/JEE MCQs).
2. Academic Planning & Curriculum Alignment
- Schedule Compliance: Adhere to school-specific timetables provided by Academic Coordinators in alignment with the master yearly plan.
- Strategic Teaching: Execute lessons that balance theory-oriented Board topics with application-heavy NEET/JEE concepts.
- Dual Focus Delivery: Ensure deep conceptual clarity for practicals and theoretical Board writing, alongside advanced MCQ shortcuts and techniques.
3. Student Mentorship & Engagement
- Holistic Tracking: Maintain detailed mentor logs to monitor students with fluctuating performance, factoring in academic, behavioral, and emotional variables.
- Motivational Support: Conduct encouraging, goal-oriented counseling sessions with underperforming students to rebuild confidence and set achievable milestones.
- Batch Management: Systematically manage a batch of 35+ students, organizing a structured weekly routine that includes:
- Thorough DPP checking and individualized feedback.
- Dedicated doubt-clearing sessions.
- Real-time academic log updates.
- Score tracking for weekly tests and Grand Institutional Batch (GIB) exams.
- Campus & Hostel Oversight: Conduct residential hostel rounds to maintain discipline, decorum, and a positive study environment.
4. Stakeholder Communication & Operations
- Parental Engagement: Conduct biweekly updates with parents regarding their child’s academic performance, attendance, and mental well-being.
- Counseling & Alignment: Address parental concerns regarding the balance between Board exams and competitive preparation by reinforcing the value of the integrated curriculum.
- Administrative Duties: Oversee fee-related communications, facilitate timely fee collection, and log financial updates accurately into the portal.
5. Time & Resource Management
- Optimally manage time during evaluations and student reviews.
- Break down macro academic goals into daily micro-tasks.
- Constantly track and report batch-level performance metrics.
Skills & Competencies Required
- Academic Expertise: Strong conceptual command over the Class 11–12 Board syllabus along with NEET and JEE exam frameworks.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to read data trends, analyze test scores, and translate metrics into actionable student study plans.
- Assessment Versatility: Equally skilled in grading descriptive answers (Boards) and analyzing MCQ approach patterns (NEET/JEE).
- Scale Management: Proven capability to handle a student load of 35+ without compromising on personalization or feedback quality.
- Communication Excellence: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive parent conversations and motivate teenagers.
- Operational Discipline: Exceptional time-management skills, resilience under academic calendar pressures, and organizational agility.
- Mindset: An empathetic, student-first mentor who remains fiercely result-oriented.
