Full job description

Suitable person to operate PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Background in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or mechatronics engineering, combining strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. They must be capable of working in high-pressure environments, often managing 24/7 rotational shifts, and must possess the ability to troubleshoot complex, automated machinery.

1. Educational and Technical Background

Engineering Background: A Diploma or Degree (B.E./B.Tech/BSc) in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Mechanical engineering is preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with sensors, actuators, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and industrial networking (Modbus, Profibus) is essential.

Software Familiarity: Experience with HMI/SCADA software such as Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley, Wonder ware, or Ignition is highly valued.

2. Required Skill Set

Troubleshooting & Logic: Ability to read ladder logic, analyze alarms in SCADA, and diagnose input/output faults.

Process Understanding: The ability to understand P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and the underlying physical process (e.g., flow, temperature, pressure).

Computer Literacy: Proficient in using computer systems for data logging, reporting, and operating SCADA panels.

Safety Conscious: Thorough knowledge of industrial safety standards, such as OSHA, and strict adherence to electrical safety protocols.

3. Key Personality Traits

Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to monitoring parameters to detect minor anomalies before they escalate.

Ability to Work Under Pressure: Remaining calm during emergencies or unexpected machine shutdowns.

Logical Thinker/Problem-Solver: The ability to quickly determine the root cause of a failure from a screen of data.

Adaptability: Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving automated systems.

4. Experience Levels

Freshers: Junior Engineer Trainees (JET) or operator trainees if they have a strong theoretical foundation in automation.

Experienced: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, pharma, or power industries is typically required for independent control room operators.
