Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our agile team in an Individual Contributor (IC) role. In this role, you will move beyond standard execution to take complete strategic ownership of the overall testing process across multiple modules. Your primary focus will be on high-quality manual and technical testing—including functional, API, database, and performance testing-as well as thorough requirement analysis to ensure robust coverage for complex web and mobile platforms. You are expected to be an active Quality Advocate, identifying technical risks and process bottlenecks early in the development lifecycle, while guiding and mentoring junior team members to elevate the team’s overall testing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Test Engineering & Execution
- Strategy & Planning: Defi ne and implement comprehensive test plans for large-scale projects, ensuring full coverage across functional, integration, and regression phases
- Requirement Architecture: Partner with Product Owners and Developers during grooming to ensure requirements are technically consistent and optimized for quality before development begins
- Advanced Technical Testing: Lead manual API testing (Postman/Swagger) to verify complex business logic and SQL queries to validate deep-level data integrity and persistence
- Technical Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Expertly use Chrome DevTools (Network/Console) and server logs to diagnose system failures, providing developers with precise technical context to accelerate resolution
- Regression Ownership: Oversee the maintenance and execution of the master regression suite for every release to ensure zero regression defects in production.
Risk & Performance Management
- Risk Mitigation: Identify project-level risks early and design mitigation plans to maintain quality standards during compressed release cycles
- Performance Oversight: Design and execute performance and load-testing scenarios to evaluate system stability under varying stress conditions
- Test Documentation Leadership: Author and review high-level test artifacts in Test Management Tools, ensuring documentation is professional, thorough, and ready for stakeholder review.
Innovation & AI
- AI Implementation: Lead the adoption of approved AI tools to enhance the testing activities in the project.
Mentorship and Guidance
- Guide and support junior QA team members during test design and execution, ensuring their deliverables consistently meet the company's highest quality standards
- Technical Upskilling: Proactively identify, learn, and train team members on emerging QA tools, technologies, and modern testing methodologies in the market to drive continuous team improvement.
Authority
- Release Gatekeeper: Authority to provide the final "Go/No-Go" decision for a release based on the project's quality health and exit criteria.
- Build Rejection: Authority to reject builds from entering the QA environment if they fail smoke tests or lack required documentation.
- Process Definition: Authority to refi ne and improve the QA process (STLC) within the team to increase overall testing efficiency.
- Requirement Challenge: Authority to request changes to User Stories or functional specifications if they are found to be ambiguous or technically fl awed.
Accountability
- Zero Critical Leakage: Accountable for ensuring no "Critical" or "Major" defects reach production for any project signed off by you.
- Quality Mentorship: Responsible for reviewing the test cases and bug reports of mid-level QAs to ensure high-quality documentation across the team.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Responsible for providing stakeholders with clear, data-driven Daily Execution Status reports and final Release Summaries.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in Software QA with a proven track record in manual testing for Web and Mobile (iOS/Android) platforms.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in automation testing.
- Methodology: Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and hands-on experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Testing Breadth: Practical experience in Functional, UI, and API testing (RESTful services).
- Tools: Proficiency in Jira (defect tracking) and test management tools like TestRail or similar.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking and the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Domain: Experience in Trading domain is a significant advantage.
- Automation: Understanding of automation tools (like Playwright or Selenium) and scripting languages (Java/Python/JavaScript) to assist with automation maintenance.
- Certification: ISTQB Foundation level or higher is preferred.
