Position Summary
The Safety Officer shall be responsible for ensuring a safe, secure and healthy working environment across the Head
Office and Factory locations of Beauty Garage Limited. This includes implementing statutory safety requirements,
conducting safety and security inspections, minimizing workplace hazards, overseeing physical security, and promoting a
strong safety culture. The role includes ensuring compliance with the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factory Rules, Fire &
Life Safety norms, DISH requirements, and other applicable EHS and statutory regulations, and covers all factory-related
compliances across the organization. The Safety Officer will work in close coordination with the Factory Manager, Plant
Manager and HR Head to deliver on these responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management
- Implement and monitor the organization's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Management System.
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, and applicable safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and hazard identification across HO, Plant and Factory.
- Carry out Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments for various operations.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Monitor closure of safety observations and audit findings.
2. Statutory Compliance
- Liaise with government authorities including DISH, Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, and other statutory
agencies.
- Maintain all statutory safety records, registers, permits, and documentation.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and ensure timely compliance.
- Ensure validity and renewal of all safety-related licenses, certificates, and approvals.
- Act as the single point of accountability for all factory-related statutory compliances across Beauty Garage Limited.
3. Fire Emergency Management
- Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans for HO, Plant and Factory.
- Organize Fire Mock Drills and Emergency Evacuation Drills.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, alarm systems, emergency lighting, and evacuation routes.
- Ensure fire equipment testing and maintenance are completed on schedule.
- Train Fire Fighting Teams and Emergency Response Teams.
4. Safety Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction training for new employees and contractors.
- Organize periodic toolbox talks and departmental safety meetings.
- Conduct awareness programs on Fire Safety, First Aid, Electrical Safety, Chemical Handling, PPE Usage, Manual
Material Handling, Work at Height, Emergency Response, and Machine Safety.
- Prepare monthly safety communication materials and awareness campaigns.
5. Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and unsafe conditions.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Prepare investigation reports with corrective and preventive actions.
- Track implementation of recommendations.
6. Environmental & Occupational Health
- Monitor waste disposal and environmental practices.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Coordinate annual medical examinations and occupational health initiatives.
- Monitor workplace hygiene, ventilation, lighting, and noise levels.
7. Machine & Electrical Safety
- Ensure machine guarding, interlocks, and safety devices are functional.
- Conduct periodic electrical safety audits (earthing, insulation, panel safety).
- Ensure Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures are followed during maintenance activities.
- Verify safe operation of material handling equipment (forklifts, hoists, cranes).
- Coordinate with the maintenance team on preventive safety checks.
8. Contractor Safety
- Monitor contractor safety compliance.
- Conduct contractor safety induction.
- Verify permits before commencement of high-risk jobs.
- Ensure contractors use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
9. Security Management (HO, Plant & Factory)
- Oversee physical security arrangements — access control, CCTV monitoring, and security guard deployment —
across HO, Plant and Factory.
- Coordinate with the security agency/vendor for manpower deployment in coordination with HR and equipment
upkeep.
- Monitor visitor, vendor and contractor entry-exit logs and gate passes.
- Investigate incidents of theft, unauthorized access, or security breaches and report findings.
- Ensure security protocols are aligned with fire safety and emergency evacuation plans.
- Conduct periodic security audits and recommend improvements in coordination with HR Head.
10. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain Safety Inspection Reports, Incident Register, Near Miss Register, Fire Equipment Inspection Records,
Training Records, PPE Issue Register, Risk Assessment Records, and Safety Committee Minutes.
- Maintain Security Incident Register and visitor/vendor movement records.
- Prepare monthly safety and security reports and management dashboards for the Factory Head, Plant Manager and
HR Head.
11. Safety Audits
- Conduct internal safety audits.
- Coordinate external safety audits.
- Ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
- Support ISO 45001 and other management system initiatives, if applicable.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Experience in chemical, cosmetics, FMCG, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Prior exposure to coordinating security operations alongside safety functions will be an advantage.
Qualification
- Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety, Fire & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent.
- Degree in Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Statutory Safety Officer Certificate recognized under the Maharashtra Factories Rules is required.
- Demonstrated experience dealing with statutory authorities and compliance inspections.
Required Skills
- Strong working knowledge of the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, and Fire & Life Safety norms.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 / OHSAS standards.
- Good communication, training, and facilitation skills.
- Incident investigation and root-cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety/security reporting tools.
- Ability to liaise confidently with statutory authorities.
- Working understanding of physical security systems and protocols (access control, CCTV, guarding).
- Ability to coordinate effectively across Factory Manager, Plant Manager and HR Head.
Working Conditions
- Role spans Head Office and Factory locations, with regular on-site inspections at each.
- Availability during emergencies and statutory inspections.
- Occasional extended working hours during audits, drills, or incident investigations.
Salary
As per company standards and candidate experience.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
