Position : Process Engineer – Machining Process Solution

Process Engineer with strong CAM and machining process expertise will work on assignments within Walter Machining Process Solutions (MPS) to deliver competitive, value‑adding engineered solutions to customers. The role focuses on identifying, developing, and executing MPS projects for the Indian market, based on defined machine and process solution rules.
The engineer will apply standardized and optimized machining methods, tools, and technologies to create robust manufacturing processes and CAM programs that reduce customer total manufacturing cost and support sustainable aftermarket and service sales growth.
The position requires close collaboration with Sales, customers, internal Engineering, and the global MPS network to support sales growth and successful project execution also there is not any constraint on the location of the position.
PROFILE & MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical / production engineering with minimum 5–6 years, or Diploma with 7–8 years of experience in machining process engineering, CAM, or application engineering (experience with aerospace or complex components is an advantage)
Identify customer projects that match the MPS service portfolio and actively support the sale of MPS services
Independently plan, lead, manage, and execute customer projects in line with defined MPS service steps and processes
Develop project and process concepts to meet customer needs, in close collaboration with Sales
Produce and optimize CAM programs, machining strategies, and tooling concepts to support customer projects, trainings, and testing
Act as technical liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and customers to ensure correct implementation of tooling and process solutions
Involve global MPS experts and competence centers for larger or more complex projects when required
Complete structured documentation generated throughout the project lifecycle, including feeds & speeds, cutting data, machining times, CAM cycle times, simulations, and source codes
Support pre‑sales and post‑sales activities, including process modifications during production
Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical issues during and after project implementation
Support process ramp‑up, stabilization, and follow‑up activities to ensure sustainable customer solutions
Actively support best‑practice sharing within the MPS organization related to application, machining, CAM, and process solutions
Maintain direct communication with Sales, customers, and strategic contacts to ensure effective alignment and project success
High travel readiness within India to support customers on site
COMPETENCIES
Very strong CAM expertise mandatory – Siemens NX required
Experience with CATIA highly preferred; additional CAM systems are an advantage
Experience with VERICUT is an advantage
High level of CAD/CAM knowledge including multiaxis machining, with experience in 2D and 3D design
Extensive knowledge of cutting tool applications, machining strategies, and process optimization
Strong NC programming skills; project management experience required
Solid understanding of CNC machine tools and controllers (e.g. Siemens 840D, FANUC, Mazatrol, Okuma OSP)
Structured, disciplined working style with strong adherence to defined MPS processes and standards
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Good communication skills, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with strong interpersonal abilities
English language skills: minimum B2 level (CEFR) or equivalent
Service- and customer‑oriented mindset with the ability to position paid engineering services
The main function of this position is to create complete machining and tooling solutions within the MPS framework, identify and execute suitable customer projects, and manage them through successful completion. The role serves as a key technical interface between customers, Sales, Engineering, and global MPS resources to ensure projects and services are delivered on time, on scope, and with clear customer value.
