1. Job Purpose
To lead and manage the complete lifecycle of mechanical EPC projects from project award through engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring timely completion, cost control, quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
The position will provide strategic and operational leadership to project teams and ensure effective coordination between Engineering, Procurement, Planning, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Finance, HR and client/consultant teams.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Project Planning & Execution
- Take overall responsibility for successful execution of assigned mechanical EPC projects.
- Review project scope, contract conditions, specifications, drawings, BOQ, timelines and deliverables.
- Develop and implement detailed project execution plans and project schedules.
- Establish project milestones, manpower requirements, resource plans and execution strategies.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedule and take corrective actions for delays.
- Ensure effective mobilisation and deployment of manpower, equipment, materials and other resources.
- Drive timely completion of engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
B. Project Management & Control
- Monitor project cost, budget, cash flow, productivity and profitability.
- Ensure projects are executed within approved budgets and contractual timelines.
- Review project MIS, DPR/WPR/MPR, progress reports and management dashboards.
- Track planned vs. actual progress, productivity, manpower utilisation and project costs.
- Identify deviations and initiate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct periodic project review meetings with internal teams and clients.
C. EPC & Contract Management
- Review and understand EPC contracts, work orders, scope of work, technical specifications and commercial terms.
- Ensure contractual obligations are clearly communicated to the project team.
- Identify variations, additional works, claims and potential commercial risks.
- Coordinate with the commercial/contracts team for submission and recovery of variation claims.
- Manage client/consultant communications relating to scope, schedule, resources, variations and project issues.
- Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained for contractual and commercial matters.
D. Engineering & Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering teams for timely release of drawings, technical documents and specifications.
- Review constructability and ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with site requirements.
- Coordinate technical clarifications with clients, consultants and vendors.
- Ensure proper integration between mechanical, piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation activities wherever applicable.
- Support technical resolution of site execution issues.
E. Procurement & Material Management
- Coordinate with Procurement and Stores teams to ensure timely availability of project materials.
- Monitor procurement schedules against project requirements.
- Review critical material and equipment procurement status.
- Ensure proper coordination with suppliers, subcontractors and vendors.
- Minimise project delays arising from material shortages and procurement issues.
F. Construction & Site Management
- Provide leadership to project/site managers and construction teams.
- Ensure efficient execution of fabrication, erection, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Monitor manpower productivity and equipment utilisation.
- Drive productivity improvement and minimise idle manpower and equipment costs.
- Ensure proper coordination between various site functions and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular site visits and project performance reviews.
G. Quality & HSE
- Ensure strict compliance with approved QA/QC procedures, ITPs, inspection requirements and project specifications.
- Ensure adherence to company and client HSE standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites.
- Review quality and safety performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure project documentation and final handover dossiers are completed as per contractual requirements.
H. Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, Site Managers and other project personnel.
- Define responsibilities, targets and KPIs for project teams.
- Assess manpower requirements and coordinate with HR for recruitment and deployment.
- Build a high-performance project management team.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews and provide guidance for capability development.
I. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Act as the senior point of contact for major project-related matters.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, progress reviews and senior management discussions.
- Resolve escalated project issues in coordination with the client and internal management.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and successful project closure.
J. Project Closure
- Ensure completion of punch points, testing, commissioning and final handover.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test certificates and completion dossiers.
- Ensure commercial closure, reconciliation and final billing are completed.
- Conduct project close-out reviews and document lessons learned.

4. Qualification
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- PMP / Project Management certification is mandatory or highly preferred.
- Additional certification in Project Management, Construction Management or Contract Management will be an advantage.
5. Experience
- 15–20+ years of relevant experience in mechanical project execution, preferably in EPC / Engineering / Construction organisations.
- Proven experience in handling large-scale mechanical EPC projects from project initiation to completion.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary project teams and multiple projects/sites.
- Strong exposure to engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Experience in project planning, cost control, contracts, client management and commercial coordination.
- Experience in handling project teams, subcontractors, vendors and consultants.
6. Desired Industry Exposure

9. Role Expectations
The incumbent is expected to function as the overall project leader, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, within the approved budget and schedule, in accordance with technical and quality requirements, while maintaining profitability and customer satisfaction.
The position will also contribute to strengthening the organisation's project management systems, standardising project execution practices, improving productivity and developing a strong project management team.
Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,800,000.00 per year
