We are seeking a hands-on Salesforce Architect / Engineer to lead the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360) and Marketing Cloud Engagement. This is a hybrid role that blends architectural thinking with deep, practical engineering — the right person is equally comfortable defining a scalable data and activation architecture and rolling up their sleeves to build, configure, and operate it day to day.
You will own these two platforms end to end: standing them up, integrating them with the broader Salesforce ecosystem and external systems, configuring data models and customer journeys, and keeping them healthy and performant over time. The ideal candidate has proven, hands-on experience setting up and configuring both Data Cloud (Data 360) and Marketing Cloud Engagement, and can move fluidly between strategic solution design and direct implementation
1. Data Cloud (Data 360) – Architecture & Implementation
-
Design and implement the Data Cloud (Data 360) data architecture, including data streams, data lake objects, data model objects (DMOs), and the canonical customer data model.
-
Set up and configure data ingestion from Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, and external sources using connectors, ingestion APIs, and batch/streaming pipelines.
-
Build and maintain identity resolution rulesets, matching and reconciliation rules, and unified profiles.
-
Create calculated insights, segments, and activations to power marketing, sales, and service use cases.
-
Configure data governance, consent, and privacy controls to ensure compliant use of customer data.
-
Optimize data model performance, storage, and processing costs as data volumes scale.
-
Marketing Cloud Engagement – Architecture & Implementation
-
Set up and configure Marketing Cloud Engagement, including business units, data extensions, contact model, and sender/authentication configuration.
-
Design and build customer journeys in Journey Builder, including triggered, multi-step, and data-driven journeys.
-
Develop email, SMS, and push content using Content Builder, AMPscript, SSJS, and dynamic/personalized content.
-
Configure and maintain Automation Studio activities, SQL queries against data extensions, file transfers, and scheduled processes.
-
Implement and manage the integration between Data Cloud (Data 360) and Marketing Cloud Engagement for segmentation and activation.
-
Manage subscriber data, preference and consent management, deliverability, and sending reputation.
3. Architecture, Integration & Development
-
Define the overall solution architecture connecting Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud Engagement, Salesforce core clouds, and external systems.
-
Integrate Salesforce with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, platform events, and middleware tools.
-
Develop custom solutions where declarative configuration is insufficient, using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), AMPscript, and SSJS.
-
Make and document architectural decisions for multi-cloud, data, and security models, balancing scalability, maintainability, and cost.
-
Establish coding, configuration, and naming standards, and enforce best practices across the platforms.
4. Configuration & Ongoing Maintenance
-
Own the day-to-day configuration of both Data Cloud (Data 360) and Marketing Cloud Engagement.
-
Customize standard and custom objects, fields, data extensions, and data model objects to meet evolving business needs.
-
Implement and maintain security controls, including user roles, profiles, permissions, sharing, and business unit access.
-
Monitor and optimize platform performance, data quality, and processing throughput.
-
Conduct regular system audits and proactively manage technical debt to ensure long-term platform health.
-
Review Salesforce, Data Cloud, and Marketing Cloud release notes, identifying risks to current builds and features that could benefit the organization.
5. Collaboration & Problem Solving
-
Work closely with Salesforce admins, marketing operations, data teams, business stakeholders, and product owners to gather and analyze requirements.
-
Propose technical solutions aligned with business objectives and translate them into working implementations.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve data, journey, deliverability, and performance issues across both platforms.
-
Lead technical workshops and solution design sessions for complex data and activation use cases.
-
Act as a trusted technical advisor on Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud strategy and roadmap.
6. Documentation & Best Practices
-
Document data models, architecture, integrations, journeys, and configuration details.
-
Establish and maintain architectural standards, governance frameworks, and documentation protocols.
-
Adhere to Salesforce best practices to ensure maintainability and scalability.
-
Mentor admins, developers, and marketing operations staff to build internal capability and ensure knowledge transfer.
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
