Full job description

The Commis 3 is an emerging culinary professional with solid foundational kitchen experience. This role is instrumental in supporting the Commis 2 and Chef de Partie in executing restaurant standards, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and developing core cooking competencies. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and demonstrates a strong work ethic with commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare mise-en-place components under supervision of Commis 2/Chef de Partie
Assist in cooking Continental dishes following established recipes and plating standards
Maintain station cleanliness, hygiene, and organization during and after service
Perform basic food preparation tasks including cutting, washing, and ingredient prepping
Support plating and garnishing under guidance, developing presentation skills
Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and equipment organization
Follow all food safety and kitchen hygiene protocols strictly
Learn and practice classical cooking techniques under mentorship
Respond promptly to kitchen calls and adapt to changing service demands
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of kitchen experience in a fine dining or reputable restaurant
Foundational knowledge of Continental/European cuisine and cooking methods
Proficiency with basic kitchen equipment and knives
Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures accurately
Good knife handling skills and basic plating technique
Clear communication and ability to work as part of a team

Desired Qualities

Culinary training from a recognized culinary school
Enthusiastic learner with passion for Continental cuisine
Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to handle pressure and maintain composure during busy service
Fluency in English; regional language knowledge is advantageous
