Full job description

A Civil Site Store Manager is a role (typically in construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects) responsible for managing and running the site store — the place where materials, tools, equipment, and consumables are stored and issued on a construction or civil project site.

Role Overview

A Civil Site Store Manager ensures that all materials and supplies needed for a civil construction project are:

Available on time
Stored correctly
Issued properly
Tracked accurately

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Management

Receive and inspect deliveries of construction materials.
Check materials against purchase orders and delivery challans.
Ensure correct storage to prevent damage, theft, or deterioration.

2. Inventory Control

Maintain accurate records of stock levels.
Update inventories regularly (often with software such as ERP Systems).
Carry out periodic stock verifications and reconciliations.
Forecast material requirements based on project schedules.

3. Issue & Dispatch

Issue required materials to workers or subcontractors upon request.
Ensure requisitions are authorized and properly documented.
Coordinate with site supervisors to fulfil material needs efficiently.

4. Safety & Compliance

Ensure store area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for Hazardous Items
Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) for stock rotation where necessary.

5. Reporting

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly store reports.
Highlight shortages, overages, and discrepancies.
Coordinate with procurement for reordering.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Skills

✔ Inventory management
✔ Record-keeping & documentation
✔ Knowledge of civil materials (cement, steel, aggregates, pipes, fittings, etc.)
✔ Basic computer skills (Excel/ERP)
✔ Good communication & coordination and Good Knowledge of Store.

Desirable Attributes

✔ Understanding of construction workflows
✔ Attention to detail
✔ Organizational skills
✔ Ability to work under pressure

Typical Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (often preferred)
Experience in inventory/store management on civil or infrastructure projects
Construction sites (roads, bridges, buildings, industrial plants)
Outdoor and indoor storage yards
In coordination with multiple departments
