Role Summary
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Psychology Teacher to join our K-12 institution. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging, evidence-based Psychology lessons that foster critical thinking, empathy, and self-awareness in students. The teacher will create a supportive and stimulating learning environment aligned with the school's academic vision and curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities Teaching & Instruction
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Psychology lessons for Grades 11 &12 in accordance with the prescribed syllabus (CBSE / ICSE / IB / State Board as applicable).
- Use a variety of instructional methods including lectures, discussions, case studies, experiments, and multimedia to engage diverse learners.
- Incorporate contemporary psychological research and real-world applications into classroom teaching.
- Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and teaching aids aligned with learning outcomes.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments including tests, projects, and assignments.
- Evaluate student performance regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Identify learning gaps and implement differentiated strategies to support students at varying ability levels.
- Prepare students for board examinations and competitive assessments.
Student Support & Wellbeing
- Act as a mentor and first point of contact for students experiencing academic or emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with the school counsellor and pastoral team to support the social-emotional well-being of students.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe classroom environment.
- Encourage open discussion about mental health, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.
Curriculum & Professional Development
- Contribute to the continuous review and development of the Psychology curriculum.
- Attend faculty meetings, staff development sessions, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
- Stay updated with developments in educational psychology, neuroscience, and pedagogy.
- Participate in inter-departmental collaboration and cross-curricular projects.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology (B.A./B.Sc./M.A./M.Sc. Psychology).
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of teaching experience at the secondary or senior secondary level.
- Proficiency in teaching as per CBSE, ICSE, IB, or relevant State Board curriculum.
- Strong understanding of developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, and mental health concepts.
Desirable
- Post-graduate degree or specialisation in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Counselling.
- Experience with IB or Cambridge (IGCSE/A-Level) curricula.
- Certification in mental health first aid or student counselling.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (Google Classroom, Moodle, etc.).
