Full job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior SEO Team Lead to lead our organic search strategy and drive sustainable growth across our E-commerce platforms.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience, including experience leading SEO specialists and managing large-scale E-commerce websites. This role requires strong expertise across Technical SEO, On-Page SEO, Content SEO, Keyword Strategy, Search Analytics, and AI-assisted SEO workflows.

You will take ownership of SEO strategy and execution while working closely with Content, E-commerce, Development, Product, Marketing, and Analytics teams to improve organic visibility, rankings, qualified traffic, and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and execute the overall SEO strategy and roadmap aligned with E-commerce and business growth objectives.
Manage, mentor, and develop the SEO team by setting clear priorities, responsibilities, KPIs, and performance expectations.
Conduct comprehensive keyword research, search-intent analysis, competitor analysis, and opportunity mapping.
Develop SEO strategies for product pages, category pages, landing pages, editorial content, and other E-commerce pages.
Own Technical SEO, including crawling, indexing, site architecture, internal linking, canonicalization, redirects, structured data, Core Web Vitals, page speed, and mobile SEO.
Work closely with developers to identify, prioritize, and resolve technical SEO issues.
Optimize titles, meta descriptions, headings, page content, URLs, internal links, image SEO, and structured data.
Develop scalable SEO frameworks for websites with large numbers of products, categories, and landing pages.
Identify opportunities to improve organic performance throughout the E-commerce customer journey.
Monitor Google algorithm changes and emerging search trends and translate them into actionable strategies.
Use Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, and similar platforms to monitor and analyze SEO performance.
Build SEO dashboards and regularly report on organic traffic, rankings, impressions, CTR, conversions, revenue, indexing, and organic visibility.
Establish structured SEO testing and experimentation processes to validate optimization opportunities.
Collaborate with Content and Creative teams to develop search-focused content that balances SEO requirements, user experience, brand quality, and conversion potential.
Explore and implement AI-assisted SEO workflows for keyword clustering, content analysis, competitor research, content optimization, automation, and large-scale SEO operations.
Evaluate opportunities related to evolving search experiences, including AI-powered search and generative search visibility.
Conduct regular SEO audits and translate findings into prioritized, measurable action plans.
Maintain SEO quality standards and ensure best practices are consistently followed across teams.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of professional SEO experience, preferably within E-commerce or large-scale consumer websites.
Proven experience leading or mentoring an SEO team.
Strong hands-on expertise in Technical SEO, On-Page SEO, Content SEO, and Keyword Strategy.
Strong understanding of Google Search algorithms, crawling, indexing, rendering, structured data, and Core Web Vitals.
Proven experience optimizing E-commerce product and category pages.
Advanced knowledge of Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
Hands-on experience with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Sistrix, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of SEO performance measurement, conversion tracking, and revenue attribution.
Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into clear SEO priorities and business actions.
Experience working closely with developers, content teams, designers, marketers, and product stakeholders.
Strong project management, communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Shopify, Shopify Plus, Shopware, or other large-scale E-commerce platforms.
Experience managing SEO across international and multilingual websites.
Experience with European markets, particularly Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK, is an advantage.
Understanding of CRO, UX, and their relationship with SEO performance.
Experience with SEO automation and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of programmatic SEO and scalable content optimization.
Familiarity with Google Merchant Center and E-commerce product feeds is an advantage.

Leadership Responsibilities

As the Senior SEO Team Lead, you will be expected to go beyond individual SEO execution. You will establish clear processes, assign priorities across the team, review SEO quality, mentor team members, coordinate cross-functional requirements, and ensure initiatives are delivered on time with measurable outcomes.
