Job Description– Commercial Supervisor (Manufacturing Industry)Position Title

Manufacturing Plant

Job Summary

The Commercial Supervisor is responsible for supporting and supervising day-to-day commercial activities including procurement, vendor coordination, inventory monitoring, logistics coordination, documentation, and compliance. The role ensures timely procurement of materials, smooth commercial operations, cost control, and proper coordination among suppliers, stores, production, and finance departments.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchase Coordination

Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders as per approved requirements.
Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
Obtain and evaluate quotations from multiple vendors.
Support commercial negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Maintain purchase records and procurement documentation.

Vendor Management

Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, and payments.
Maintain vendor database and performance records.
Resolve routine supplier issues related to quality, quantity, and delivery.
Assist in identifying and developing new vendors.

Inventory & Stores Coordination

Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production.
Coordinate with stores for stock verification and material availability.
Assist in controlling slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
Participate in periodic stock audits and inventory reconciliation.

Logistics & Dispatch Coordination

Coordinate transportation and dispatch activities.
Track incoming and outgoing shipments.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
Maintain logistics records and documentation.

Commercial Documentation

Maintain purchase orders, invoices, delivery challans, GRNs, and commercial records.
Ensure proper filing and record management.
Verify vendor invoices before processing payments.
Coordinate with finance for payment processing and reconciliation.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with company policies and commercial procedures.
Support GST, audit, and statutory documentation requirements.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly commercial MIS reports.
Maintain accurate records for internal and external audits.

Cost Control

Monitor procurement costs and identify saving opportunities.
Compare supplier quotations and recommend cost-effective options.
Support cost reduction initiatives and budget control measures.

Team Coordination

Coordinate with production, stores, quality, logistics, and finance departments.
Guide junior commercial staff in daily operations.
Ensure smooth communication between internal departments and vendors.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.

Experience

3 to 8 years of experience in Commercial, Purchase, Procurement, Logistics, or Supply Chain functions.
Experience in Manufacturing Industry preferred.
Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) is desirable.
