Full job description

A dialysis technician (or hemodialysis technician) operates, maintains, and sanitizes the specialized machines that remove waste and excess fluid from the blood of patients with chronic kidney failure. Working under nurses or physicians, they prepare treatment stations, initiate dialysis (including needle insertion), monitor patient vitals, and provide care during the procedure. Machine Preparation & Maintenance: Assembling, cleaning, and testing dialysis equipment to ensure it operates correctly.
Patient Care: Preparing patients by checking vitals (blood pressure, temperature, weight) before, during, and after treatment.
Cannulation: Inserting needles (fistula or graft) to connect the patient to the machine.
Monitoring Treatment: Closely watching the patient and machine for complications during the 3–4 hour treatment.
Documentation: Recording treatment data, such as fluid removal rates, in patient charts. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Work Environment & Role

Supervision: They work under the direct supervision of registered nurses or doctors in hospitals, clinics, or outpatient dialysis centers.
Patient Interaction: They provide significant one-on-one patient care, offering emotional support and education about the procedure.
Physical Demands: Shifts often require long periods of standing, moving patients, and performing repetitive tasks. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Dialysis technicians must have high attention to detail to ensure safety and comfort for patients whose kidneys are no longer functioning properly. [1, 2]

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
