JOB DESCRIPTION – MAINTENANCE MANAGER

1. Job Purpose
To ensure the smooth, safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant machinery, utilities, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and engineering infrastructure. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for preventive and breakdown maintenance, equipment reliability, compliance, documentation, and management of the maintenance team.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Plan and supervise preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production and utility equipment.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimum production downtime.
- Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, and breakdown reports.
- Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Warehouse, and other departments for maintenance activities.
B. Utilities & Engineering Systems
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of:
- HVAC systems
- AHU systems
- Chillers
- Boilers
- Air compressors
- DG sets
- Water purification systems
- ETP/STP
- Electrical panels and distribution systems
- Pumps, motors, and other utility equipment
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of required utilities to production and other departments.
C. Electrical & Safety
- Supervise electrical maintenance and ensure safe operation of electrical installations.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and testing wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper implementation of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and other safety procedures.
- Investigate equipment-related accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions.
D. Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
- Prepare and implement annual/monthly preventive maintenance plans.
- Ensure timely calibration of applicable instruments and equipment in coordination with QA/QC.
- Review preventive maintenance effectiveness and update schedules where required.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts.
E. GMP & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with GMP, GLP, EHS, and company SOPs.
- Maintain proper engineering documentation and records.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure timely closure of engineering-related audit observations and CAPAs.
- Ensure maintenance work does not adversely affect product quality or GMP areas.
F. Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team.
- Allocate daily work and monitor performance.
- Conduct training related to equipment operation, maintenance, safety, and SOPs.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability for routine and emergency maintenance.
- Evaluate team performance and identify training requirements.
G. Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with external service providers, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure quality of maintenance services.
- Review service reports and AMC agreements.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting of equipment.
H. Projects & Installation
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and utility systems.
- Review engineering requirements for new projects.
- Coordinate with vendors during equipment installation and qualification activities.
- Support equipment qualification and validation activities wherever applicable.
I. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and review:
- Preventive Maintenance Reports
- Breakdown Reports
- Utility Reports
- Equipment History Cards
- Maintenance Logs
- Spare Parts Records
- Engineering SOPs
- CAPA/Deviation-related documents
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and submit periodic reports to management.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in machine breakdowns and downtime.
- Preventive maintenance completion rate.
- Equipment availability and reliability.
- Reduction in maintenance cost.
- Timely closure of maintenance-related deviations/CAPAs.
- Utility efficiency and energy savings.

4. Qualification
Essential:
- B.Tech/B.E./Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related Engineering discipline.
Preferred:
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, chemical, or FMCG manufacturing.
5. Experience
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in plant maintenance/engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial/supervisory role is preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical plant utilities, production equipment, HVAC, electrical systems, and GMP documentation will be an advantage.

The Maintenance Manager shall have authority to:
- Assign maintenance activities to the engineering team.
- Coordinate emergency breakdown activities.
- Recommend procurement of spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Coordinate with approved vendors/service providers.
- Stop unsafe maintenance activities and escalate safety concerns to management.
Pay: ₹40,916.31 - ₹72,142.06 per month
Work Location: In person
