Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. As a Commis Chef. Your primary focus will be on mise en place (food preparation), maintaining impeccable hygiene standards, and assisting in the daily operations of your assigned station. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for a passionate cook or recent culinary graduate looking to build a strong foundation and advance their culinary career.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

Perform basic daily prep work (mise en place) accurately and efficiently, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring ingredients.
Assist the Chef de Partie and other senior chefs with cooking tasks and station management during busy service hours.
Follow exact recipes and instructions to ensure consistency in portion size, flavor, and presentation.

Kitchen Hygiene & Safety

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and food handling regulations.
Assist with deep cleaning duties at the end of the shift, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.

Stock & Organization

Help receive, check, and properly store food deliveries.
Ensure all food items are properly labeled, dated, and rotated (First In, First Out) to minimize waste.
Communicate with senior chefs when stock levels for your station are running low.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
Education: A diploma or degree from a recognized culinary institution is preferred but not required.
Skills: Basic knife skills and a fundamental understanding of cooking techniques.
Attitude: Eager to learn, able to take direction well, and highly receptive to constructive feedback.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to [X] lbs), and work comfortably in a fast-paced, hot, and high-pressure environment.
Certifications: Valid food handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one upon hiring).
