Position Title: Line Lead
Production Line Lead – Tetra Pak & Syrup (Chocolate Syrup and Allied Varieties)
Top 5 Core Responsibilities / Outcomes Expected
Safety, food safety & compliance: Ensure strict adherence to EHS, GMP, allergen/chemical controls, permit-to-work and safe operating procedures; drive zero harm and strong audit readiness.
Deliver production plan (SQDC): Execute daily/weekly plan for Tetra Pak and syrup lines (including changeovers) to meet output, service level, yield and cost targets; balance manpower and line loading.
Quality assurance in operations: Ensure in-process controls, CCP/OPRP checks, packaging integrity and traceability are followed; quick containment and escalation for deviations/non-conformances.
Equipment reliability & performance (AM ownership): Own line efficiency (OEE), losses and breakdown reduction through Autonomous Maintenance execution (CL/CIL, DH, BDE), centerlining/setting standards, tagging & closure discipline, spares coordination and effective vendor/engineering interface.
People leadership & shift governance: Lead shift in-charges, staff and workers through tier meetings, communication, coaching, discipline, training and multi-skilling; maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S.
Other Applicable Scope Defining Dimensions
Area/Lines covered: Multiple manufacturing lines (Tetra Pak: L/M/J/K and syrup lines: Hilda line & sachet line) with common blending/processing interfaces.
Operating rhythm: 24x7 shift operations; daily tier reviews (Tier-0/1/2/3) and performance reporting.
Cross-functional interfaces: QA/QC, QRC/MSS, Process, Reliability/Engineering, Utilities, Stores (RM/PM), WH/Logistics, HR/Admin, Projects/Infra and vendors.
Key decisions & controls: Prioritization during line constraints/breakdowns, approval of changeover readiness, first-off/last-off verification, and release/hold coordination with QA.
Improvement scope: RMPM consumption monitoring and weekly monthly reconciliation, Loss elimination, manpower productivity, digitalization (Power Apps for CL/CIL/DH/BDE and tier meetings), and participation/ownership of CAPEX/validation trials
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Technical/Process knowledge: Beverage and syrup processing fundamentals (mixing/blending, heating/cooling, homogenization where applicable, CIP/SIP concepts), Tetra Pak filling basics, secondary packing, coding and vision rejection principles.
Quality systems: GMP, HACCP/CCP awareness, traceability, hold/release process, sampling and in-process control discipline; strong understanding of hygiene and contamination prevention.
Maintenance & reliability: Understanding of line components, critical spares, lubrication, basic troubleshooting, and AM pillar practices (CL/CIL, DH, BDE) with loss-tree thinking (OEE, breakdown, speed, defects).
AM/TPM capability: Ability to drive AM Step-0/1 activities, sustain CL/CIL standards, run AM events/kaizens, coach operators on basic conditions, and track loss elimination through tier governance.
Leadership & communication: Shift leadership, coaching and feedback, conflict handling, effective escalation, and strong collaboration with stakeholders.
Analytical & systems skills: Data-driven problem solving (RCA, 5-Why, Fishbone), basic TPM/Lean tools, reporting, and comfort with digital tools (Power Apps/Excel) for governance and compliance.
Lead internal and External Audits for Safety, Quality and System compliance effectively.
Education & Experience:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, Dairy/Food Technology or equivalent.
Preferred: Certifications/awareness in Food Safety (GMP/HACCP), TPM/Lean, and basic EHS.
3–7 years of experience in FMCG/Food manufacturing with at least 1–2 years in a shift/line handling role.
Hands-on experience on packaging/processing lines (preferred: Tetra Pak filling, secondary packing, coding/vision rejection; syrup filling/secondary packing).
Exposure to changeover management, start-up/shutdown, line clearance and in-process quality controls.
Practical involvement in AM/TPM activities (CL/CIL, DH tagging & closure, BDE, OEE loss analysis) and coordination with maintenance/reliability.
Preferred: Experience supporting audits (GMP/HACCP), validation/trials, and basic troubleshooting/root cause analysis.
