Firebird Institute of International Studies (FIIS), Coimbatore, is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial and results-driven leader to head Admissions & Business Development for its 2026–27 Undergraduate International Pathway Programmes.
This is not a conventional admissions role. We are looking for a business leader who can build the admissions engine, expand market reach, strengthen the consultant ecosystem, lead the admissions team, and take end-to-end ownership of the P&L for a 200-student annual target.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and executing the admissions and business development strategy for students aspiring to pursue their undergraduate education in the UK and USA through FIIS's pathway model.
Students begin their programme at FIIS, Coimbatore, and progress to universities in the UK or USA from the subsequent stage of their programme.
PROGRAMME MODELS
1. Standard Foundation Programme
A structured pathway designed to prepare students for progression to international undergraduate education.
2. Accelerated Foundation Programme
An intensive pathway for eligible students seeking a faster progression route.
3. Year One at FIIS – Coimbatore
Students complete their first year at FIIS and progress to the second year onwards at a partner university in the UK or USA, subject to programme and university requirements.
KEY MANDATE
The Head – Admissions & Business Development will own the complete admissions business for the 2026–27 pathway cycle, with an annual target of approximately 200 students.
The role will include:
- Develop and execute an aggressive 200-student admissions strategy.
- Own the P&L, revenue, admissions pipeline and business performance of the pathway vertical.
- Build a strong and predictable student acquisition funnel from enquiry to enrolment.
- Develop and manage relationships with overseas education consultants, study-abroad agencies, schools, colleges and institutional partners.
- Create an extensive outreach network across Tamil Nadu and other key markets in India.
- Lead conversion strategies across counselling, applications, offers, deposits and enrolments.
- Establish strong relationships with the INTO and university partner ecosystem.
- Develop campaigns, events, school outreach, education fairs, seminars and digital acquisition initiatives.
- Identify new markets, channels and partnerships for sustained growth.
- Lead, mentor and performance-manage the admissions and business development team.
- Establish measurable KPIs, conversion metrics and revenue dashboards.
- Work closely with marketing, counselling, operations and academic teams to ensure seamless student conversion and onboarding.
- Analyse competitors, market trends, pricing, student preferences and international education demand.
- Ensure the admissions operation delivers quality students, sustainable revenue and strong progression outcomes.

A BUSINESS LEADER – comfortable owning revenue, budgets, targets, costs and P&L.
A STRATEGIST – capable of identifying new markets and creating innovative student acquisition models.
A PEOPLE LEADER – able to inspire, coach and drive a high-performance admissions team.
A DOER – someone who spends time in the market, builds relationships, visits institutions and actively creates opportunities rather than waiting for leads.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate/Postgraduate qualification; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in admissions, international education, study abroad, higher education, business development or a related sector.
- Proven experience in UK/USA international education recruitment is highly desirable.
- Strong network among study-abroad consultants and education counsellors will be a major advantage.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving ambitious student recruitment or revenue targets.
- Experience managing teams, budgets and business performance.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively for institutional outreach and business development.
