Vrdionx is a government-backed, funded sustainability-focused startup developing eco-friendly, biodegradable leather alternatives for the fashion, footwear, automotive, and lifestyle industries. We combine material science, design, and innovation to create responsible products without compromising on quality, performance, or aesthetics.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Product Development Intern with a background in Polymer Chemistry to support the development and optimisation of next-generation sustainable materials. The intern will work closely with the founding team on formulation development, material characterisation, process optimisation, and prototype development, contributing directly to our R&D; efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the formulation and development of biodegradable polymer-based materials.
Conduct laboratory experiments related to polymer synthesis, blending, compounding, and crosslinking.
Prepare, optimize, and document material formulations and experimental procedures.
Perform physical, mechanical, and chemical characterization of developed materials.
Analyse experimental data and prepare technical reports with observations and recommendations.
Support process optimization for prototype manufacturing and scale-up.
Conduct literature reviews, patent searches, and competitive technology analysis.
Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and ensure adherence to laboratory safety practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate research into commercially viable products.

Eligibility

Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, polymer processing, and material characterization.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment is preferred.
Ability to independently plan and execute experiments.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Passion for sustainable materials and product innovation.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of polymer formulation and compounding.
Experience with elastomers, latex systems, biopolymers, or composite materials is an advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and technical documentation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
