Job Description – Desktop Support Engineer

Role: Desktop Support Engineer / IT Support Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Desktop Support Engineer with 1–2 years of experience to provide L1/L2 technical support to end users. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting desktop/laptop hardware, Windows OS, software, printers, networking, email, and other IT-related issues. The role also involves ticket management, IT asset tracking, user onboarding, and remote/onsite support. These responsibilities align with current India-based desktop support roles. IIndeed+2

Key Responsibilities

Candidate should have worked on server side as well having knowledge about Intune, Roaming profile, group policy, wifi router, Networking, firewall, ack up or MCSE training

Provide L1/L2 support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 operating systems.
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues involving RAM, HDD/SSD, motherboard, display, keyboard, mouse, etc.
Troubleshoot MS Office, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and other business applications.
Configure and troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP issues.
Perform basic Active Directory tasks such as user creation, password resets, account unlocks, and permissions.
Provide remote support using tools such as Quick Assist, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or similar tools.
Handle IT support tickets and ensure issues are resolved within defined SLA/TAT.
Maintain proper documentation of incidents, resolutions, and troubleshooting activities.
Support new-joiner onboarding, laptop allocation, software installation, and user setup.
Maintain and update IT asset inventory.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs, warranty claims, and printer/network issues.
Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate L2/L3 or infrastructure teams.
Follow company IT security policies and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills

1–2 years of experience in Desktop Support / IT Support / Helpdesk.
Good hands-on knowledge of Windows 10/11.
Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts – IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, Wi-Fi and VPN.
Working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
Basic understanding of Active Directory.
Experience with ticketing/helpdesk tools is preferred.
Knowledge of remote support tools.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently as well as part of an IT support team.

Educational Qualification

Diploma / Graduate / BCA / B.Sc. / B.Tech / BE in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related field.
CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation, or similar certification would be an added advantage.

First-call/first-level resolution rate.

Accurate ticket and asset documentation.
Timely onboarding/offboarding support.
Reduction in recurring desktop and hardware issues.
