Job Description: Senior Librarian

Department: Academics
Reports To: Principal / Head of School
Location: Vasant Kunj
Position Type: Full-time

Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the school library as an engaging learning resource center that supports the CBSE curriculum, promotes a strong reading culture, and develops research and information skills among students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Library Management & Operations

Oversee day-to-day functioning of the school library.
Maintain cataloguing, classification, and inventory of books and digital resources.
Manage subscriptions to journals, magazines, and e-resources.

Curriculum Support

Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources with CBSE curriculum.
Support project-based learning and subject enrichment activities.
Conduct library orientation sessions for students and staff.

Information Literacy & Research Skills

Guide students in research, referencing, and project work.
Promote ethical use of information and awareness of plagiarism.

Reading Promotion

Plan and implement reading programs, book clubs, and literary activities.
Organize book fairs, reading weeks, and author interactions.
Curate age-appropriate reading materials.

Digital Library & Technology Integration

Manage digital library systems and online resources.
Promote digital literacy and use of research tools among students.

Team Leadership

Supervise library staff and ensure smooth operations.
Support training and professional development.

Policy & Compliance

Develop and implement library policies in line with CBSE guidelines.
Maintain records, prepare reports, and manage budgets.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
5–8 years of experience in a school library (CBSE experience preferred).
Knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.

Strong organizational and communication skills
Collaboration and teamwork
Passion for reading and student engagement

Additional Responsibilities:

Support school events and academic initiatives.
Assist in inspections, audits, and accreditation processes.
Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by school leadership.
