Profile:
Experienced engineering professional with a strong background in marine engineering, shipyard operations, heavy industrial projects. Possesses comprehensive technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, marine, and maintenance systems. Demonstrates strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a solid understanding of marine safety standards, project execution, and maintenance practices. Capable of effectively handling high-pressure operational environments while ensuring timely and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical and operational representative of the Director at the project site and support strategic decision-making in their absence.
- Lead the overall engineering operations for marine, shipyard, dry dock, fabrication, repair, refit, and logistics-related projects.
- Review and approve engineering plans, technical drawings, specifications, and execution methodologies, development technical quotes, commercial quotes & communication with the client
- Provide technical guidance to electrical, mechanical, structural, piping, HVAC, and marine engineering teams.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet operational, safety, and quality standards.
- Resolve complex technical issues arising during project execution or vessel operations.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure smooth project integration.
2. Business Development & Strategic Support
- Support business development initiatives by identifying potential project opportunities, operational partnerships, and client requirements.
3. Project Planning & Execution
- Develop engineering execution strategies for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Monitor project timelines, manpower deployment, material utilization, and technical progress.
- Ensure engineering works are completed within approved budgets and deadlines.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, operations teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Review project milestones and identify potential delays or technical bottlenecks.
- Lead engineering meetings, progress reviews, and technical coordination discussions.
- Support commissioning, testing, sea trials, and project handover activities.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain engineering reports, technical records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Submit periodic updates to senior management regarding project progress, technical issues, and operational performance.
- Prepare SOPs, technical procedures, and engineering standards for internal implementation.
5. Marine & Shipyard Operations Oversight
- Supervise technical activities related to vessel repair, ship maintenance, machinery systems, and marine equipment.
- Oversee dockside engineering operations including mechanical repairs, propulsion systems, piping systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary machinery.
- Ensure proper maintenance practices for cranes, compressors, generators, pumps, hydraulic systems, and workshop equipment.
- Coordinate dry docking and vessel inspection activities with class authorities and clients.
- Monitor technical readiness of equipment and infrastructure used in marine operations.
6. Maintenance & Asset Management
- Establish preventive and predictive maintenance systems for all machinery and critical equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance, breakdown analysis, and root cause corrective actions.
- Ensure minimum downtime and high operational reliability across engineering assets.
- Maintain engineering documentation, maintenance logs, technical records, and equipment histories.
- Recommend upgrades, retrofits, and modernization initiatives for improved efficiency.
7. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to marine safety regulations, HSE policies, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Promote safe work practices across all engineering and maintenance activities.
- Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, permit-to-work reviews, and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with classification society standards, IMO regulations, and applicable industrial norms.
- Investigate technical incidents, equipment failures, and safety non-conformities.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for operational risks.
8. Vendor & Contractor Management
- Evaluate technical capabilities of vendors, subcontractors, and service providers.
- Review technical bids, quotations, and procurement specifications.
- Supervise contractor performance and ensure adherence to technical and safety standards.
- Coordinate with OEMs and external consultants for specialized engineering support.
- Monitor quality and timely delivery of engineering materials and services.
Job-type: Full-time/Permanent
Salary: Rs 5,00,000-6,00,000/ month OR Rs 60,00,000-70,00,000 per annum
