The Rohru Centre is a residential and rehabilitation facility that provides educational, developmental, and life-skills support to children and adults with disabilities in a safe and inclusive environment.
Position Summary
The Helper is responsible for providing direct support to children and adults with disabilities in their daily living activities, residential care, mobility, personal hygiene, recreational participation, and educational routines. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, well-being, and independence of residents.
The ideal candidate should be compassionate, patient, physically active, and committed to supporting persons with disabilities with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support and Care
- Assist residents in daily living activities as required.
- Support students in maintaining personal hygiene, grooming, and cleanliness.
- Assist during meal times and ensure students receive appropriate support when eating.
- Provide guidance and assistance in dressing, organizing personal belongings, and maintaining personal spaces.
- Encourage independence while providing necessary support based on individual needs.
Mobility and Accessibility Support
- Assist students in moving safely within the residential campus.
- Accompany students to classrooms, activity rooms, dining areas, therapy sessions, and outdoor activities.
- Support safe participation in educational, recreational, and community-based activities.
- Assist students in navigating unfamiliar environments when required.
Residential Care Support
- Assist the Warden in maintaining discipline, safety, and routine within residential facilities.
- Ensure dormitories, common areas, and student spaces remain clean and organized.
- Monitor students during residential hours and report concerns immediately.
- Assist in maintaining attendance and routine records as directed.
Educational and Rehabilitation Support
- Assist Special Educators and Activity Teachers during classroom and activity sessions.
- Support implementation of life-skills and independent living programs.
- Assist in distributing learning materials, assistive devices, and educational resources.
- Encourage participation in cultural, sports, vocational, and recreational activities.
Health and Safety Support
- Monitor the well-being of students and report illness, injuries, or unusual behavior promptly.
- Assist students during medical visits and emergencies.
- Follow safety procedures and emergency protocols established by the centre.
- Ensure students are protected from risks, accidents, and unsafe situations.
Behavioural and Emotional Support
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to students.
- Promote positive behavior and respectful interactions among residents.
- Support students in developing confidence, social skills, and independent living skills.
- Maintain a caring and supportive environment that respects individual dignity and rights.
Centre Operations Support
- Assist during workshops, camps, outreach activities, trainings, and special events.
- Support logistical arrangements during centre programs.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Warden, Special Educator, or Centre Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 10th Pass.
- Ability to read and write basic Hindi.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in a residential environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or persons with disabilities.
- Training in caregiving, rehabilitation support, child care, or community-based services.
- Knowledge of disability inclusion and basic caregiving practices.
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience in caregiving, hostel support, residential care, educational institutions, NGOs, or rehabilitation centres is preferred.
- Fresh candidates with a strong interest in working with persons with disabilities may also apply.

Safeguarding and Child Protection
The Helper will be required to strictly adhere to Saksham's Child Protection Policy, Safeguarding Policy, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy, and Disability Inclusion Guidelines.
The employee must immediately report any concerns related to abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying, discrimination, or safety risks involving students or beneficiaries.
