Job DescriptionPosition: City Head – Warehouse (City Lead)

Locations: Bengaluru, Kolkata, Bhiwandi, Hyderabad, Gurugram
Reporting To: Head of Operations / D2C Lead
Joining: Immediate

About the Role

We are seeking a highly driven and hands-on City Head – Warehouse (City Lead) to own and manage warehouse and logistics operations across a designated city. The role is responsible for establishing and scaling warehouse processes across D2C fulfillment, marketplace operations (Amazon, Flipkart), and RTV (Return to Vendor) workflows.

The successful candidate will ensure that multiple fulfillment facilities within the city operate as a unified, efficient, and high-performing logistics network, delivering exceptional service levels while maintaining operational excellence and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable analyzing warehouse KPIs, resolving on-ground operational issues, optimizing logistics networks, negotiating with partners, and building scalable operating models. Ownership, accountability, and problem-solving are critical to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities: Warehouse & Logistics Operations

Establish and standardize end-to-end SOPs across all warehouses within the city, including:
D2C fulfillment centers
Marketplace fulfillment centers
Express delivery hubs
RTV processing facilities
Onboard, manage, and operationalize third-party warehouse partners and logistics service providers.
Implement and optimize:
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Scanning and tracking processes
Picking and packing operations
Quality control checkpoints
Returns and RTV workflows
Inventory cycle-count procedures

Performance Management

Ensure achievement of key operational targets including:
OTIF (On-Time In-Full)
Pick accuracy
Inventory accuracy
Return processing turnaround time
Cost-per-order efficiency
Develop a unified city-level operating model with standardized KPIs, governance structures, escalation mechanisms, and accountability frameworks across multiple facilities.

Stakeholder Management

Manage relationships with:
Warehouse operators
Logistics and carrier partners
Marketplace account teams
Manufacturing and dispatch teams
Negotiate service-level agreements (SLAs) and ensure consistent service performance.

Team Leadership

Recruit, develop, and mentor local warehouse managers, operations leads, and supervisors.
Conduct:
Daily operational reviews
Weekly performance deep-dives
Root cause analysis (RCA) sessions
Continuous improvement initiatives

Process Improvement & Cost Optimization

Drive warehouse productivity improvements through:
Layout optimization
Labor planning
Cross-docking initiatives
Capacity planning
Packaging material cost reduction
Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce operational costs, and enhance customer experience.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all statutory, legal, insurance, and workplace safety requirements.
Maintain operational readiness for audits and regulatory inspections.

New Launch & Peak Planning

Own operational readiness for:
New category launches
Membership or promotional campaigns
High-volume sales events
Seasonal demand spikes

Required Qualifications & Experience

2+ years of experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or logistics operations.
Proven experience managing or setting up multi-site warehouse operations.
Strong understanding of:
Receiving
Putaway
Picking
Packing
Inventory control
Returns management
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience using operational dashboards and performance metrics.
Comfortable operating both on the warehouse floor and in leadership-level business reviews.
Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned city/region and support operations during peak business periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Amazon and Flipkart fulfillment operations and return management processes.
Prior ownership of logistics budgets, operational costs, or P&L responsibilities.
Experience onboarding and managing third-party logistics (3PL) partners.
Exposure to contract negotiations and vendor management.
