Full job description

We're Hiring: Quality Head – Sheet Metal Manufacturing
Location: Chakan, Pune
Employment: Full-Time
Exp: 10-15 Yrs
Salary – 15-20 LPA
Preferred Immediate Candidate Only

Job Summary

The Quality Head is responsible for leading the quality assurance and quality control functions in a sheet metal manufacturing facility. This role ensures that products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
Lead quality assurance and quality control activities across incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
Establish quality objectives, KPIs, and improvement plans to achieve business goals.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
Manage customer complaints, warranty issues, and corrective/preventive actions.
Conduct internal audits and coordinate external/customer audits.
Oversee supplier quality management, supplier audits, and supplier development.
Monitor process capability (Cp/Cpk), SPC, MSA, and quality performance metrics.
Review PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
Ensure calibration and maintenance of measuring and testing equipment.
Collaborate with production, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing teams to improve product quality.
Lead and mentor the quality team, including Quality Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.
Prepare quality reports and present performance reviews to senior management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
Master's degree is preferred.
Certification in ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or CQE is an advantage.

Experience

10–15 years of experience in quality management within sheet metal manufacturing, fabrication, stamping, welding, or automotive components.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing quality teams.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes including:
Laser Cutting
CNC Punching
Bending/Forming
Welding
Powder Coating/Painting
Assembly
Expertise in GD&T, engineering drawings, and dimensional inspection.
Experience with CMM, height gauges, profile projectors, and other precision measuring instruments.
Strong understanding of:
APQP
PPAP
FMEA
SPC
MSA
Control Plans
8D
Lean Manufacturing
Six Sigma
ISO 9001
IATF 16949 (preferred for automotive manufacturing)
