Job Description

As the Chief Engineer, you’re the backbone of our building – ensuring that everything behind the scenes runs like clockwork. From technical systems to preventive maintenance, from energy efficiency to team leadership, you keep the hotel operating at its best. Your work allows our teams to deliver seamless service and our guests to enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay.

Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of all engineering systems – HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical;
Lead, schedule, and support the engineering team, ensuring effective coverage and high standards of work;
Manage and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment, guest rooms, and public areas;
Respond quickly to maintenance requests or emergencies, minimising disruption to operations and guests;
Collaborate with department heads to support operational needs and ensure seamless service delivery;
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as legal and brand requirements;
Manage contractors, service providers, and external inspections, ensuring quality and timely work;
Monitor and optimise energy use, utilities, and maintenance budgets;
Keep detailed maintenance records and assist with capital planning and project implementation;
Train your team on safety, emergency procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
Experience in budgeting, project management, and contractor management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy management systems is preferred.
Familiarity with local regulations, building codes, and safety standards.

Competencies:

Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in relevant software and systems, including BMS (Building Management Systems).
