The Role’s Mission
As our Materials Planning and Procurement Manager, you will be the founding architect of Lyter’s localized supply engine. This is a brand-new function within the company, meaning your mission is to build the entire department from the ground up with a clean slate. You will take full ownership of designing, structuring, and scaling a world-class procurement and materials requirement planning (MRP) framework. Managing a highly technical matrix of over 2,000+ unique SKUs, you will engineer alternative sourcing pipelines, optimize our Bill of Materials (BOM), and ensure that material flow matches our high-velocity scaling targets with zero friction.
The Role: The Strategic Builder
This position is tailored for a highly analytical "self-starter" who thrives in a high-growth environment. You aren't just managing an existing department; you are creating the workflows, rules, and mathematical models that define how Lyter plans and buys. You will seamlessly balance process-based planning via Excel and ERP systems while actively rolling up your sleeves to execute daily sourcing operations with little to no oversight.
Key Outcomes (First 6 Months)
- Functional Blueprint: Design and deploy the company's first formalized Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and procurement workflow, standardizing lead times and re-order points.
- BOM Optimization: Audit all current product BOMs across our 2,000+ SKUs, successfully establishing qualified alternative sourcing paths for critical components to improve pricing efficiency by 10-15% without compromising material quality.
- System Activation: Fully transition materials planning from manual tracking to automated, process-based tracking within the company ERP system.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process-Based Materials Planning
- Design and execute robust material planning models using advanced Excel and ERP systems to meet company inventory safety stock and material efficiency targets.
- Translate sales forecasts into precise component-level production and procurement schedules, preventing stockouts while minimizing capital tied up in excess inventory.
2. Strategic Procurement & BOM Optimization
- Lead the end-to-end procurement cycle for over 2,000+ unique SKUs, ensuring raw materials and components arrive on time to support internal manufacturing.
- Continuously review and optimize Bills of Materials (BOM) to identify cost-saving opportunities through volume adjustments, alternate component selection, or manufacturing efficiency.
3. Alternative Sourcing & Quality Engineering
- Build a resilient multi-vendor ecosystem by identifying, evaluating, and onboarding high-quality alternative suppliers across India and international markets.
- Enforce rigorous material quality standards, partnering with the Quality Lab to ensure alternative components meet all statutory and internal performance benchmarks.
4. Functional Architecture & Scaling
- Establish the core SOPs, KPIs, and tracking metrics for this newly created supply chain function.
- Lay down the foundational infrastructure required to scale procurement operations 10x as Lyter expands its Pan-India footprint.
5. Vendor Negotiation & Pricing Efficiency
- Drive commercial negotiations with raw material vendors and component manufacturers to achieve optimal pricing structures, flexible credit terms, and strictly locked lead times.
What You Bring
- The "Roll-up-the-Sleeves" Attitude: You love the challenge of a blank canvas. You are highly energetic and equally comfortable writing a high-level supply chain policy or diving deep into a spreadsheet to verify a part number.
- Data-Driven Precision: You don't guess; you calculate. You understand the mathematical models behind economic order quantities (EOQ), safety stocks, and lead-time variances.
- Unshakeable Autonomy: You operate flawlessly with little oversight. You identify gaps, create the solution, and execute the plan independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related business field. An MBA in Operations is an advantage.
- Experience: 5+ years of proven expertise in Materials Planning (MRP) and Procurement, with clear experience managing a complex components portfolio of 2,000+ unique SKUs (preferably within the electrical, electronics, automotive, or engineering manufacturing sectors).
- Technical Mastery: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Excel (VBA, complex macros, index/match models) and hands-on experience setting up or utilizing ERP inventory/planning modules.
- Proven Track Record: Tangible history of establishing alternative sourcing strategies and successfully optimizing product BOMs for pricing efficiency.
