We are seeking a highly skilled, organized, and experienced Lab Incharge to oversee and manage our laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in clinical laboratory management, ensuring absolute accuracy in testing, strict adherence to quality compliance (NABL/NABH), and efficient team leadership. You will be responsible for day-to-day workflow, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and fostering a high standard of patient care and diagnostic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Workflow Management
Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring smooth workflow from sample collection to final reporting.
Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and implement strategies to optimize processing efficiency without compromising accuracy.
Supervise, mentor, and schedule shifts for Lab Technicians, Phlebotomists, and support staff.
Resolve operational bottlenecks and handle escalated patient or clinical queries promptly.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
Maintain strict compliance with NABL, NABH, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Implement and monitor Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS).
Ensure proper documentation of all logs, validation records, critical values, and corrective actions (CAPA).
Enforce bio-medical waste management rules and strict laboratory safety protocols.
3. Inventory & Equipment Management
Manage laboratory inventory, including reagents and consumables, preventing both stock-outs and expiry wastage.
Coordinate Calibration, Preventive Maintenance (PM), and troubleshooting of all laboratory instruments and analyzers.
Evaluate and recommend new laboratory equipment, technologies, or test methodologies to management.
4. Team Leadership & Training
Conduct regular training sessions for the technical team on new protocols, safety measures, and equipment handling.
Evaluate team performance and identify areas for skill development.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/B.Sc. MLT / M.Sc. MLT) or a related biological science field.
Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in a reputed hospital or diagnostic center laboratory, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior role.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Pathology processes.
Proficiency in operating advanced, automated laboratory analyzers and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
