Full job description

What you’ll do:

Eaton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer – Power Electronics (Sytem requirements, Design, Testing & Validation) to support design, development, and lead validation activities for data center power electronics systems, including AC‑DC and DC‑DC converters. The role involves end‑to‑end ownership of test strategy development, contribution to product design and development, high‑power test setup design, and execution across EVT, DVT, and PVT phases.
The candidate will be responsible for translating product, customer, and regulatory requirements into robust design inputs and validation plans, ensuring accurate testing, data analysis, and compliance with global standards such as CE, UL, and IEC. The role requires strong expertise in power electronics design fundamentals, test equipment selection, safe lab practices, and defining operating limits for high‑power systems used in data center applications.
As a senior member, the engineer will actively contribute to design reviews, schematic validation, and design improvements based on test feedback, while driving root cause analysis for design and field issues. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross‑functional teams (design, firmware, mechanical, and quality) to ensure timely and high‑quality product development and validation.
Additionally, the role involves improving test methodologies, supporting design for reliability (DfR) and design for validation (DfV), maintaining lab readiness, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and documentation standards.

Strong expertise in power electronics design, development, and testing of AC‑DC and DC‑DC converters, with end‑to‑end ownership of EVT, DVT, and PVT phases.
Proven ability to translate product requirements, standards, and specs into design inputs and structured validation plans.
Hands‑on experience in converter design—schematics, component selection, derating, and design optimization based on validation feedback.
Expertise in setting up and commissioning safe high‑power test benches (wiring, grounding, shielding, safety interlocks).
Deep knowledge of test equipment (power sources, loads, analyzers, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems) and their advanced usage.Ability to define safe operating limits, derating guidelines, and stress conditions to ensure design robustness.
Strong measurement, error analysis, and automated data logging skills using calibrated instruments/tools.Experience in complex data analysis, RCA, and driving design improvements from failure insights.
Active contributor in design reviews, validation, and Design for Reliability (DfR).Proficient in creating clear, structured, customer‑facing validation reports.
Strong grasp of electrical safety practices (risk assessment, PPE, LOTO, lab safety).
Familiarity with compliance standards (CE, UL, IEC) and certification support.Experience in lab management, calibration, maintenance, and audit readiness.
Exposure to lab resource planning and utilization tracking.Effective cross‑functional coordination with design, firmware, mechanical, and quality teams.
Strong ownership, risk identification, and proactive communication of issues/status.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.Ability to drive process improvements, standardization, and lab/test automation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/ Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics, with 4-10 years of experience in power electronics product testing.

Skills:

'Strong expertise in AC‑DC and DC‑DC converter topologies (PFC, LLC, PSFB) and control strategies.
Good understanding of data center power architectures (Server PSU, Rectifier, UPS, 48V / 380V DC systems).
Experience in power electronics design fundamentals including component selection, derating, and thermal considerations.
Proven knowledge of EVT, DVT, PVT validation methodologies and test plan development.
Hands-on experience with high‑power test setups (up to 100kW level) including safe wiring, grounding, and interlocks.
Strong expertise in test equipment operation (power analyzers, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, sources).
Good understanding of efficiency measurement, loss analysis, and thermal performance evaluation.
Working knowledge of EMI/EMC debugging and compliance standards (IEC, UL, CE, CISPR).
Experience in failure analysis and root cause identification for power electronics systems.
Familiarity with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PSIM) and test automation/data logging techniques.
