Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable, customer-focused DME Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers with obtaining and understanding durable medical equipment, ensuring high-quality service, accurate documentation, and compliance with insurance and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist patients in selecting and obtaining appropriate durable medical equipment (e.g., oxygen supplies, CPAP/BiPAP, mobility aids, nebulizers, etc.)
Educate patients and caregivers on proper equipment use, care, and maintenance
Process orders, documentation, and prior authorizations with accuracy and efficiency
Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility according to payer requirements
Coordinate deliveries, pickups, and equipment setup as needed
Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure equipment is clean, safe, and ready for use
Communicate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance DME guidelines
Handle customer inquiries and provide exceptional service both in-person and over the phone
Maintain detailed and accurate records in DME software systems (e.g., Brightree, NikoHealth, etc.)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (required); healthcare-related experience preferred
Previous DME, HME, respiratory, or medical office experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and DME billing codes a plus
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid policies and HIPAA compliance
Basic computer proficiency; experience with EMR/DME management systems preferred
