Full job description

The Endoscopy Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, preparing and maintaining endoscopy equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control, and supporting patient care before, during, and after procedures. The role requires technical expertise in handling endoscopy instruments, patient monitoring, and maintaining procedural documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Procedure Assistance

Assist gastroenterologists/ endoscopists during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Prepare endoscopy suite prior to procedures by arranging instruments, consumables, and equipment.
Position and prepare patients for endoscopic examinations and interventions.
Provide procedural assistance during upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy (if applicable), and related procedures.
Assist in specimen collection, labeling, and transport to laboratory.

Equipment Handling & Maintenance

Prepare, inspect, and test endoscopy equipment before procedures.
Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report major issues to biomedical/maintenance department.
Ensure proper functioning of monitors, processors, light sources, insufflators, and suction units.
Maintain endoscopy inventory and stock levels of accessories and consumables.

Sterilization & Infection Control

Perform cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopes and accessories as per protocol.
Follow infection prevention and biomedical waste disposal guidelines.
Maintain strict aseptic technique during all procedures.
Ensure endoscopy reprocessing documentation is completed accurately.

Patient Care Support

Monitor patient vitals during procedures under supervision.
Assist in pre-procedure and post-procedure patient preparation and recovery.
Provide patient reassurance and support before procedures.
Identify and report any adverse patient reactions or emergencies immediately.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain procedure logs and equipment maintenance records.
Document sterilization/reprocessing records accurately.
Ensure compliance with NABH/JCI/hospital quality standards.
Support audit and accreditation activities related to endoscopy services.

Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with consultants, nurses, housekeeping, and CSSD for smooth workflow.
Communicate effectively regarding patient readiness, equipment availability, and procedural schedules.
Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and skill updates.

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Endoscopy Technology / Allied Health Sciences.

Experience

1–2 years of experience in Endoscopy / Gastroenterology Unit preferred.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
