Job Summary : An optometrist is primarily responsible for diagnosing, managing, and treating visual and ocular conditions, as well as correcting refractive errors and providing vision care. Their role extends to performing eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, and identifying eye diseases, contributing significantly to eye health management.
Key Responsibility:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, and eye health assessments.
- Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases, such as glaucoma.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
- Provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
- Detect and manage eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and infections, referring patients to ophthalmologists for advanced care when necessary
- Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery—for example, examining a patient’s eyes the day after surgery.
- Evaluate patients for the presence of diseases such as diabetes and refer patients to other healthcare providers as needed.
- Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining how to clean and wear contact lenses.
9. Contribute to vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation programs.
Qualification:
· Bachelor’s degree in Optometry (B.Sc. Optometry) or Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution.
· Post-graduate qualification or additional certification in optometry/vision science/ocular diagnostics.
Experience:
1. Overall: 5 years of experience in optometry, including proficiency in diagnostic procedures and patient management.
2. Relevant: 2–4 years of experience in clinical optometry or eye-care centres.
3. Age: 25 – 30 yrs.
4. Proficiency in using optometric/diagnostic equipment such as ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes, slit lamps.
5. Proficiency in hospital/clinical settings: Conducting refraction tests, diagnostic eye assessments, fitting lenses, using advanced ophthalmic instruments, and maintaining patient records.
6. Freshers are also welcome.

3. Contact Lens Fitting and Management: Expertise in selecting, fitting, and educating patients on lenses and care.
4. Use of Diagnostic Instruments: Skilled in using slit lamps, keratometers, ophthalmoscopes, and corneal topographers.
5. Pharmacology: Knowledge of eye medications and their safe administration.
6. Documentation and Record Keeping: Accurate maintenance of clinical records and patient histories.
7. Infection Control and Safety: Ensuring hygiene and safety in clinical procedures
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
