2. Job Purpose
The Nursing Superintendent will be responsible for the overall administration, supervision, coordination and quality management of nursing services across the hospital's various clinical departments.
The position requires effective leadership to ensure:

The Nursing Superintendent must ensure that nursing services are department-specific, adequately staffed and aligned with the clinical requirements of each specialty.
4. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Nursing Administration
- Overall supervision and administration of nursing services across the hospital.
- Develop, implement and monitor nursing policies, protocols and SOPs.
- Ensure adequate nursing manpower across departments and shifts.
- Prepare and monitor nursing duty rosters.
- Ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient allocation based on patient acuity and departmental requirements.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, discipline and performance of nursing staff.
- Coordinate staff deployment, leave and shift requirements.
- Maintain nursing administrative records and reports.
- Ensure smooth functioning of nursing services across all shifts.
5. Clinical Nursing Supervision
- Ensure safe, ethical, compassionate and evidence-based nursing care.
- Conduct regular nursing rounds across clinical departments.
- Monitor nursing practices in IPD, OPD, ICU, Emergency, OT, Maternity, Paediatrics, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology and other departments.
- Ensure appropriate patient assessment and monitoring.
- Ensure correct medication administration and documentation.
- Ensure timely escalation of deteriorating patients to the treating consultant/medical team.
- Monitor compliance with patient-identification and medication-safety protocols.
- Address nursing-related patient and attendant concerns.
- Ensure effective nursing handover between shifts.
6. Maternity & Child Healthcare

The Nursing Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining the hospital's NABH-oriented quality and patient-safety framework.
Responsibilities include:
- Implement nursing practices in accordance with applicable NABH standards and hospital policies.
- Ensure compliance with nursing SOPs and clinical protocols.
- Maintain complete and accurate nursing documentation.
- Monitor patient-safety practices.
- Ensure infection prevention and control.
- Support medication-safety initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate patient identification and handover procedures.
- Participate in nursing and clinical audits.
