Role Title: HR Manager
Location: Goa, India (On-site)
Department: Human Resources & Administration
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 8+ Years
Education: Bachelor's degree in any discipline; MBA (HR) or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager who can independently manage the full spectrum of HR operations for a fast-growing start-up. This role is ideal for someone who is people-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working across both white-collar and blue-collar hiring environments. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience from construction, real estate, or manufacturing environments, understands the operational realities of the sector, and can build strong HR and admin foundations as the organisation scales.
1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition - Manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle — sourcing, screening, scheduling, interviews, offer rollout, and onboarding. Handle hiring across corporate and field-level roles including blue-collar (site workers, operators, technicians) and white-collar (production, projects, sales, design) positions. Build and maintain a strong candidate pipeline through job portals, referrals, social media, and industry networks. Manage onboarding and induction processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires
2. Employee Lifecycle Management- Manage complete employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. Maintain and update employee records, personal files, and HRMS data accurately. Handle employee queries, grievances, and disciplinary matters with professionalism and discretion. Manage attendance tracking and leave administration across the organisation. Manage employee engagement, culture-building, and welfare initiatives.
3. Payroll, Compliance & Statutory - Handle monthly payroll processing including attendance collation, leave adjustments, and variable inputs. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements — PF, ESIC, PT, gratuity, and labour law regulations. Maintain compliance registers and ensure timely filings on all statutory portals. Support payroll audits and manage communication with auditors and consultants. Keep updated with changes in Indian labour laws and ensure organisational adherence.
4. HR Processes, Policies & Frameworks- Design, document, and implement HR policies, SOPs, and frameworks suited to a scaling start-up. Set up and continuously improve HR operations systems — from leave management to performance tracking. Develop and maintain the employee handbook and other HR reference documents. Support leadership in org design, role mapping, and compensation benchmarking exercises.
5. Reporting & HR Analytics - Ensure accurate maintenance of HR dashboards and people analytics. Generate periodic reports on hiring status, attrition, attendance, and compliance with the help of Zoho and AI tools.
6. Zoho Tools & Digital HR Systems - Manage and optimise Zoho People (or equivalent HRMS) for employee records, leave, attendance, and performance modules. Work with automation tools within the Zoho ecosystem (Zoho Recruit, Zoho People, Zoho Sign) to streamline HR workflows. Identify and implement digital tools and automation opportunities to improve HR and admin efficiency.
- Key Skills and Experience
8+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience with full-cycle ownership of HR functions, out of which at least 3 years in a lead or managerial role.
Proven experience recruiting across both corporate (white-collar) and field/site-level (blue-collar) roles is essential.
Background in construction, real estate, infrastructure, or manufacturing strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, PT), and payroll processes.
Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and/or Zoho Sheets for HR reporting and MIS.
Experience building HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbooks from scratch in a startup environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills — able to manage people matters at all levels with discretion.
High ownership mindset, reliable, and capable of managing sensitive employee matters independently.
Proactive, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple HR and admin priorities simultaneously.
Goa-based or willing to relocate to Goa (on-site presence is required).
