Role: Senior Technical Architect for Automotive
System Engineering Support for a Japanese OEM program, responsible for onsite customer engagement, technical coordination, system engineering activities, and offshore team leadership.
Experience Level
15+ years of experience in Automotive Embedded Systems, System Engineering, Camera/AVM Integration, or ADAS domains with strong customer-facing experience. Experience working with Japanese OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is preferred.
Role and Responsibility
Project & Delivery Management

Monitor project milestones, deliverables, risks, and technical dependencies.

Prepare and present technical status reports to customers and leadership teams.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Proactively identify/cross sell/provide solutions to customers; building collaterals.
-
Use independent judgment to design and develop architecture for a project, proof of concepts or prototypes in emerging technologies based on inputs from customer or project team.

Identify, analyze, recommend, implement improvements in existing system architectures
-
Serve as domain representative and spokesperson on integrated product development teams, review committees, technical task force etc.

Support proposal preparation, technical estimations, and future business opportunities.

Build internal technical forums; Writing technical papers

System Engineering & Customer Support
-
Lead system engineering activities for AVM (Around View Monitor) and Camera-based vehicle vision systems.
-
Understand, analyse, and manage customer requirements related to camera interfaces, imaging systems, diagnostics, calibration, and vehicle integration.
-
Act as the primary technical interface between customer, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
-
Conduct technical review meetings, requirement clarification discussions, and design walkthroughs with Japanese customer teams.

Travel onsite based on project requirements

Lead Technical discussions in customer visits
Technical Coordination & Integration

Support integration of Camera, SerDes, AVM ECU, ADAS, IVI, and Vehicle ECU subsystems.

Coordinate with camera and AVM suppliers for interface alignment, image quality requirements, calibration specifications, and diagnostic implementation.
-
Drive issue analysis, root cause investigations, and resolution planning across multiple stakeholders.

Support alignment of system architecture, interface specifications, and integration deliverables.
Verification & Validation Support

Review and guide AVM validation activities including image stitching, geometric corrections, blending quality, distortion correction, and calibration accuracy.

Support verification of vehicle-level functions, diagnostics, fail-safe mechanisms, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with development and test teams for issue tracking and closure.
Offshore Team Leadership

Lead and mentor offshore engineering teams supporting customer programs.

Drive project execution, task planning, technical reviews, risk management, and delivery tracking.

Ensure effective communication between onsite customer teams and offshore engineering teams.

Support resource planning, knowledge management, and competency development.
Education
-
B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Automotive, Instrumentation, Computer Science or related disciplines.

Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N3/N2/N1) will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
Work Experience
-
Strong experience in Automotive System Engineering and Product Development lifecycle.
-
Hands-on experience with Camera Systems, AVM, RVC, ADAS, IVI or Vehicle Vision applications.

Understanding of SerDes technologies such as GMSL, FPD-Link, LVDS and related video processing concepts.
-
Experience in diagnostics, DTC implementation, CAN/LIN/Ethernet communication, and vehicle integration.
-
Experience working with global customers and multi-location engineering teams.

Knowledge of ASPICE, V-Model development processes, and automotive quality standards.
-
Experience in customer-facing technical leadership roles.

Japanese customer interaction experience is highly preferred.

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive technical discussions independently.

Exposure to vehicle validation, production readiness, and supplier management activities will be an added advantage.
