Job Description – Export Manager

Job Title: Export Manager
Location: Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, India
Department: Sales & Marketing

Role Objective

The Export Manager will be responsible for driving Alankaram's international business growth by identifying new export opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, expanding the global customer base, and ensuring the successful execution of export orders. The role requires a strong understanding of international trade, global furniture markets, export compliance, and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities1.

Identify and develop new international markets for Alankaram's furniture products.
Generate business opportunities through distributors, dealers, retailers, architects, interior designers, hospitality groups, and project clients.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with international buyers, channel partners, and sales agents.
Develop strategic plans to expand the company's global footprint.
Represent the company in international trade fairs, exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, and networking events

2. Export Sales Planning & Execution

Prepare and execute annual export sales plans aligned with business objectives.
Achieve export revenue and profitability targets.
Develop market-specific pricing strategies and product portfolios.
Prepare quotations, proposals, and commercial offers.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, Incoterms, and delivery schedules with international customers.
Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation to order closure.

3. Export Operations & Order Management

Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, and Logistics teams for timely execution of export orders.
Ensure smooth order processing from purchase order to final shipment.
Monitor production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
Coordinate packaging, container planning, freight forwarding, and shipment schedules.
Resolve customer issues related to deliveries, quality, documentation, or logistics.

4. Export Documentation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and export documentation.
Coordinate preparation of:
Commercial Invoice
Packing List
Certificate of Origin
Bill of Lading / Airway Bill
Insurance Documents
Shipping Instructions
Export Licenses and Certifications (where applicable)
Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, CHA, and logistics partners.
Stay updated on export policies, customs regulations, duties, and international compliance requirements.

5. Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

Conduct market research to identify emerging export opportunities.
Monitor international furniture trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
Recommend new product developments or product modifications based on regional market requirements.
Analyse pricing benchmarks across different countries and customer segments.

6. Customer Relationship Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with international customers.
Conduct regular customer meetings (virtual and in-person).
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and after-sales support.
Focus on customer retention and repeat business.

7. MIS & Reporting

Maintain accurate sales pipelines, CRM data, and export opportunity trackers.
Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports.
Present sales forecasts, order status, market intelligence, and business development updates to management.
Track key business metrics and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
MBA in International Business, Marketing, or Export Management will be preferred.

Experience

5–10 years of experience in Export Sales or International Business Development.
Experience in the furniture, interior products, home décor, building materials, or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
Proven track record of developing international markets and achieving export sales targets.
