Full job description

· Store Location: Kala Ghoda Fort and Head Office Location - Andheri Mumbai

· Working Days: Monday to Saturday (Sunday Off)

· Work Model: 4 Days Head Office | 2 Days Store

· Industry Preference: Multi-Designer Luxury Fashion

Role

As the Head Merchandiser – Global Retail, you will be responsible for leading the overall merchandising strategy across retail stores and e-commerce channels to drive sales, profitability, and business growth. The role oversees product assortment, inventory planning, pricing, promotions, and category performance while ensuring optimal inventory productivity and customer satisfaction.

You will lead the merchandising team, drive data-driven decision-making through MIS and performance analytics and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve key business objectives, including sales, margin, COGS, market share, and profitability targets. The role requires strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership to deliver a best-in-class customer experience and strengthen Aashni + Co.'s position as a leader in the luxury fashion retail industry.

Responsibilities:

1. Category Management

· Lead and guide Retail Merchandisers in managing their categories.

· Decide which products and designers should be stocked.

· Ensure the right products are available at the right stores and online.

· Approve pricing and marketing plans to achieve sales targets.

2. Sales & Profit Growth

· Drive sales, profitability, and market share across all categories.

· Monitor product performance and take corrective actions when required.

· Balance revenue growth with healthy profit margins.

3. Pricing & Promotions

· Develop pricing strategies to remain competitive in the market.

· Plan and execute seasonal sales, promotions, and special campaigns.

· Analyse past promotions and customer buying patterns to improve future results.

4. Inventory & Product Availability

· Ensure timely procurement and replenishment of products.

· Monitor stock levels to avoid overstocking or stock shortages.

· Ensure new season collections are launched on time across stores and e-commerce.

5. Designer & Vendor Management

· Identify and onboard promising new designers and brands.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with designers and suppliers.

· Negotiate commercial terms to achieve the best margins and business outcomes.

· Travel across cities as required to oversee merchandising activities, support store operations, meet designers and vendors, and ensure smooth execution of business plans.

6. E-commerce & Store Coordination

· Work closely with the e-commerce and marketing teams to ensure consistency across channels.

· Align product assortment, promotions, and launches between stores and the website.

· Ensure a seamless customer experience across all sales channels.

7. Planning & Reporting

· Prepare seasonal budgets, sales forecasts, and merchandising reports.

· Track key business metrics such as sales, inventory, margins, and profitability.

· Present insights and recommendations to management for business improvement.

8. Customer-Centric Merchandising

· Understand customer preferences and shopping behaviour.

· Curate product assortments that meet customer expectations and drive loyalty.

· Continuously improve the shopping experience through better product offerings.

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Partner with Marketing to drive brand visibility and sales.

· Work with Store Operations to execute promotions effectively.

· Coordinate with Finance for budgeting and financial planning.

· Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to ensure attractive product presentation.

10. Team Leadership & Development

· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Retail Merchandisers, ensuring high performance and accountability across all categories.

· Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback to team members.

· Encourage data-driven decision-making and accountability.

· Participate in interviewing, evaluating, and hiring candidates to build a high-performing merchandising team.

11. Process Improvement & Governance

· Establish merchandising processes and best practices.

· Monitor compliance with category management principles.

· Identify operational gaps and implement improvements for greater efficiency.

12. Order Fulfilment & Operations

· Oversee customer orders and ensure timely deliveries.

· Coordinate with internal teams to maintain smooth merchandising operations.

· Resolve supply and inventory-related issues proactively.

· Familiarity with ERP and Retail Management Systems.

· Knowledge of E-commerce and Omni-channel Retail Operations.

· Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

· Overall, 10- 12 years of overall experience in Fashion Retail Merchandising.

· Minimum 4 plus years of experience in a leadership role within a Multi-Designer Luxury Fashion Brand.

· Strong exposure to Luxury Ethnic Wear, Designer Fashion, or Premium Retail.
