Full job description

Position: Accountant
Industry: Manufacturing
Location: Jaipur
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting To: Finance Manager / Head – Finance & Accounts

1. Job Purpose

To independently manage day-to-day accounting activities of the manufacturing unit, ensure accurate books of accounts, timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, cost control, inventory accounting, and effective financial coordination with Purchase, Stores, Production, Sales and other departments.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. General Accounting

a) Maintain accurate and updated books of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

b) Handle journal entries, ledgers, receivables, payables and other accounting transactions.

c) Prepare and review Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) and ledger reconciliations.

d) Monitor outstanding receivables and payables.

e) Ensure proper accounting of expenses, assets, liabilities and provisions.

f) Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual closing of accounts.

B. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

a) Maintain and monitor manufacturing cost records.

b) Analyse raw material, labour, power, overhead and production costs.

c) Prepare product-wise / process-wise cost analysis wherever applicable.

d) Monitor production costs against budgets and identify significant variances.

e) Assist in calculation and monitoring of cost of production and cost of goods sold.

f) Analyse material consumption, production losses, wastage and process variances.

C. Inventory & Stores Accounting

a) Monitor accounting of raw materials, consumables, WIP, finished goods and packing materials.

b) Reconcile physical stock with books/ERP records.

c) Coordinate with Stores and Production teams for periodic physical stock verification.

d) Investigate stock discrepancies and ensure appropriate accounting adjustments.

e) Monitor slow-moving, non-moving and obsolete inventory.

f) Ensure proper valuation of inventory as per applicable accounting policies.

D. Accounts Payable & Purchase Accounting

a) Verify purchase invoices against purchase orders, GRN/MRN and supporting documents.

b) Process vendor bills after ensuring proper approvals and documentation.

c) Maintain vendor ledgers and conduct regular vendor reconciliation.

d) Monitor outstanding vendor payments and prepare ageing reports.

e) Coordinate with Purchase and Stores departments regarding invoice discrepancies.

E. Accounts Receivable & Sales Accounting

a) Record sales transactions accurately and reconcile sales with dispatch records.

b) Monitor customer outstanding and prepare ageing reports.

c) Follow up with concerned departments for collection-related issues.

d) Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.

e) Assist in credit control and collection monitoring.

F. GST, TDS & Statutory Compliance

a) Ensure timely compliance with applicable GST, TDS and other statutory requirements.

b) Verify GST input/output transactions and assist in GST reconciliation.

c) Ensure proper accounting and timely payment of TDS and other statutory dues.

d) Coordinate with consultants and auditors for statutory compliance.

e) Maintain proper records and supporting documents for statutory assessments and audits.

G. MIS & Management Reporting

a) Prepare monthly MIS and financial reports for management.

b) Prepare reports relating to:

o Sales

o Purchases

o Production

o Inventory

o Receivables

o Payables

o Expenses

o Cost of production

o Budget vs. actual performance

c) Highlight major financial and operational variances to management.

d) Assist in budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.

H. Banking & Cash Management

a) Handle day-to-day banking and accounting transactions.

b) Prepare and monitor bank reconciliations.

c) Monitor cash flow and fund requirements.

d) Maintain petty cash and ensure proper supporting documents.

e) Coordinate with banks for routine banking requirements.

I. Fixed Assets

a) Maintain the fixed asset register.

b) Record additions, disposals and transfers of fixed assets.

c) Calculate depreciation as per applicable accounting policies.

d) Coordinate with concerned departments for physical verification of fixed assets.

J. Audit & Internal Controls

a) Coordinate with internal, statutory and tax auditors.

b) Provide required schedules, documents and explanations during audits.

c) Ensure timely closure of audit observations.

d) Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails.

e) Strengthen internal financial controls and identify potential areas of financial risk.

3. Qualification

a) B.Com / M.Com / MBA – Finance or equivalent qualification.

b) CA Inter / CMA Inter / CA / CMA qualification will be an added advantage.

4. Experience

a) 6–8 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts, preferably in a manufacturing organisation.

b) Strong hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting, inventory, costing, GST, TDS, MIS and financial reporting.

c) Experience working with ERP/accounting systems in a manufacturing environment will be preferred.

5. Technical Skills

a) Strong knowledge of Tally / ERP / SAP / other accounting software.

b) Good command of MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and financial analysis.

c) Working knowledge of GST and TDS.

d) Knowledge of inventory and cost accounting.

e) Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures.

f) Good knowledge of reconciliation and financial reporting.

g) Reduction in accounting discrepancies

h) Timely closure of audit observations

i) Accuracy of cash and bank reconciliation

j) Effective monitoring of receivables and payables

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Finance & Accounts professional with 6–8 years of manufacturing experience, having strong practical knowledge of general accounting, manufacturing/cost accounting, inventory control, GST/TDS, vendor/customer reconciliation, MIS, audits and ERP-based accounting.

The candidate should be capable of independently handling the accounts function of a manufacturing unit and effectively coordinating with Production, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Commercial and Management.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
