Overview
We’re looking for an Analyst to join the Gallagher Re Actuarial Team in Mumbai. Backed by Gallagher, one of the world’s largest insurance brokers, you’ll work with a global team that uses data and analytics to design reinsurance solutions tailored to client needs. In this role, you’ll analyse data and trends to help clients make informed decisions about their reinsurance strategies. You’ll build loss models, investigate loss ratios, and provide insights that drive decision-making. You’ll also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure actuarial principles are applied effectively in pricing and product development.
Here’s what you’ll also do:

Estimate reinsurance treaty pricing for various lines of business, including Property, Casualty, Marine, and Aerospace.

Optimise reinsurance structures to manage earnings volatility and solvency risks.

Generate reports and presentations to support business decisions.

Contribute to industry studies and benchmarking activities to position Gallagher Re as a thought leader.

Innovate processes through tool development and automation.
Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:

A graduate or postgraduate degree, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Commerce.

Membership in a recognised actuarial institute (e.g., IFoA, IAI) with 3–6 actuarial exams cleared.

1–3 years of relevant experience.

Strong skills in MS Excel, with knowledge of VBA, SQL, Python, R, or Power BI being an advantage.

Excellent communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly.

A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn and grow.
How you'll make an impact
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of insurance principles and regulations and be able to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. As an important member of the team, the candidate would be responsible for the growth and development of other members of the team, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the team and organization.

Analyzing data and trends to help clients make informed decisions of the optimal reinsurance strategies they should adopt

Performing ground up analysis and loss ratio investigations to build client portfolio understanding

Build comprehensive loss models based on experience and exposure analysis in accordance with client’s risk profiles and industry standards

Estimate reinsurance treaty pricing for clients mainly in Property, Casualty, Marine, Aerospace, etc. lines of business (depending on the market/team)

Reinsurance structure optimisation and profitability analysis to manage earnings volatility and solvency risk for clients

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure actuarial principles and techniques are accurately implemented in product development and pricing strategies

Generate reports and presentations summarizing analyses and findings to support business decision-making
-
Contribute towards the Industry studies and benchmarking activities, that aim at promoting Gallagher Re as thought leaders in the reinsurance marketplace

Provide valuable insights and support to clients while continuously improving processes through innovation in the form of tool development and automation of Actuarial analysis
About you
Qualifications:

Graduate/Post-graduate, preferably in Stats/Maths/Eco/Commerce
-
A member of any recognized Actuarial institute like Institute of Faculties of Actuaries – UK (IFoA), Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), etc.
-
3-6 Actuarial exams cleared as per the new Curriculum, along with zeal of pursuing the qualification further.

Relevant experience of 1 - 3 years

Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel is essential.

Knowledge of VBA, SQL, Python, R, Power BI etc. is an added advantage.
