Business Development & Sales Manager

Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel: Regular travel across Tamil Nadu and India
Experience: Relevant B2B Sales / Business Development Experience

Job Summary

We are looking for a confident and commercially driven Business Development & Sales Manager to build and expand our customer base across India.

The ideal candidate should be a strong B2B sales professional and new-business hunter who can identify opportunities, approach decision-makers, develop customer relationships, negotiate commercial terms, and convert opportunities into orders and long-term business.

This is a frontline, revenue-generating role with personal ownership of the sales process from prospecting to customer acquisition and repeat orders.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new B2B customers for sustainable packaging and molded cellulose products.
Build and manage a strong sales pipeline across food service, consumer goods, electronics, industrial packaging, agriculture, healthcare, and other relevant sectors.
Generate new business through direct outreach, referrals, industry networks, trade events, and customer visits.
Identify key decision-makers and develop relationships with procurement teams, packaging managers, distributors, brand owners, and contract manufacturers.
Understand customer packaging requirements, expected volumes, performance requirements, and commercial needs.
Coordinate product samples, quotations, product development discussions, tooling requirements, and commercial negotiations.
Convert qualified leads into product trials, purchase orders, long-term supply agreements, and repeat business.
Maintain regular follow-up and ensure sales opportunities progress toward closure.
Work closely with production and technical teams to ensure customer requirements and commitments are achievable.
Maintain accurate sales pipeline, customer activity, and sales forecast information.
Track and report opportunities, conversion rates, expected volumes, pricing, and challenges.
Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
Conduct market research and gather information about customer requirements, competitors, pricing, and new market opportunities.
Contribute to achieving revenue, sales pipeline, and customer acquisition targets.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in B2B Sales / Business Development, with proven experience in new customer acquisition and closing commercial deals.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience in B2B Sales, Business Development, or New Customer Acquisition.
Proven track record of personally acquiring new customers and closing commercial deals.
Experience selling packaging, molded products, industrial components, materials, or manufactured products preferred.
Experience in molded fiber, sustainable packaging, food-service packaging, or protective packaging will be an advantage.
Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
Ability to confidently communicate with business owners, procurement teams, senior executives, and technical stakeholders.
Strong persistence, resilience, and follow-up skills.
Comfortable working with sales targets, revenue targets, pipeline targets, and conversion KPIs.
Ability to understand technical products and convert customer requirements into business opportunities.
Highly organized with strong customer follow-up and reporting skills.
Strong written and spoken English and Tamil.
Hindi or another Indian language will be an advantage.
Willingness to travel regularly across Tamil Nadu and India.
Candidates currently based in Chennai or having strong established business connections in Chennai and Tamil Nadu are preferred.

Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates with experience in packaging, molded products, industrial components, manufactured products, sustainable packaging, food-service packaging, or protective packaging will be preferred.

Compensation

Competitive fixed salary + performance-based incentives, linked to sales and commercial results.

The ideal candidate is a hunter and closer who can independently generate leads, meet customers, understand their requirements, negotiate effectively, close new business, and develop long-term customer relationships.
