Assistant Manager – Accounts

Department: Finance & Accounts

Reporting To: Finance Manager / Head – Finance

Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Accounts will be responsible for driving process standardization, strengthening financial controls, ensuring vendor master governance, supporting ERP implementation, improving operational efficiency, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The role requires close coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies, statutory requirements, and organizational SOPs.

Key Responsibilities

Process Standardization & Workflow Development
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized accounting workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Streamline finance processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Ensure consistent execution of financial processes across all business locations.

Vendor Master Data Governance
- Create, validate, and maintain a centralized Vendor Master database.
- Verify vendor documentation including GST, PAN, bank details, agreements, and statutory registrations before onboarding.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and periodic review of vendor master records to prevent duplication and compliance issues.

ERP Implementation & System Adoption (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central)
- Support ERP implementation by participating in requirement gathering, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and process validation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and implementation partners to ensure successful deployment.
- Drive user adoption by providing process guidance and training on ERP functionalities.
- Monitor system utilization and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency.

Operational Audit & Process Improvement
- Conduct internal operational and financial process audits to identify gaps and control weaknesses.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to strengthen financial controls.
- Monitor implementation of audit observations and ensure timely closure.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives within the Finance function.

Documentation Governance & SOP Compliance
- Establish and maintain standardized documentation practices across Finance and Accounts.
- Ensure compliance with approved SOPs, accounting policies, statutory regulations, and internal control frameworks.
- Maintain proper documentation for financial transactions to support internal and external audits.

Management Reporting & Business Insights
- Prepare periodic MIS reports, financial dashboards, and operational performance reports.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
- Provide timely and accurate reports to senior management for decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

Team Leadership & Operational Coordination
- Lead and guide the Accounts team to achieve operational excellence and process compliance.
- Allocate responsibilities, monitor team performance, and ensure timely completion of accounting activities.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Operations, Sales, HR, and other departments for smooth financial operations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and compliance.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles and Financial Controls.
Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems.
Vendor Master Data Management.
SOP Development and Process Documentation.
Internal Audit and Compliance.
MIS Reporting and Financial Analysis.
Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.
Leadership and Team Management.
Excellent Communication and Stakeholder Management.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com).
CA Inter / CMA Inter / MBA (Finance) preferred.

Experience

5–8 years of experience in Finance & Accounts, with exposure to ERP implementation, process improvement, vendor master governance, and management reporting.
Experience in Manufacturing, FMCG, Food Processing, or similar industries will be preferred.

Timely implementation and compliance of Finance SOPs.
Accuracy and integrity of Vendor Master data.
Successful ERP adoption and process optimization.
Closure of audit observations within defined timelines.
Timeliness and accuracy of MIS reports.
