Responsibilities

Understanding & Translating Client Briefs

Understand and analyse client briefs accurately, asking the right clarifying questions upfront to pin down objectives, target audience, tone, etc before content development begins.
Translate briefs into clear content outlines and share them internally, seek approval to avoid rework and misalignment later in the cycle.
Flag gaps or ambiguities in a brief early, and proactively suggest content angles that better serve the client's stated goals

Content Ideation & Writing

Conceptualise and develop high-quality company profiles, growth stories, industry articles, and other BrandLabs content formats through thorough primary and secondary research and easily understandable narratives.
Build a deep understanding of the Indian startup ecosystem to help BrandLabs clients tailor content strategies and craft narratives aligned with their goals.
Contribute to idea generation, story development, and interviews for brand campaigns, ensuring content meets Inc42's editorial standards for writing style, depth, and research.
Ideate and create new article formats beyond the existing ones to keep BrandLabs content fresh and suited to different client objectives.
Maintain the discipline of native content — never a press release or an advertorial — keeping a neutral, editorial tone while effectively conveying the client's message through storytelling.

Editorial Coordination & Quality Checks

Coordinate closely with the Editorial team on style, tone, fact-checks, and sign-offs, ensuring BrandLabs content meets the same rigour as Inc42's core editorial output.
Run first-level quality checks on all BrandLabs content (articles, scripts, marketing copy) for accuracy, grammar, structure, and brand-safety before it goes out for client or editorial review.
Coordinate feedback cycles with clients — collating comments, reconciling conflicting inputs, and ensuring revisions are closed out within timelines.
Draft marketing content to support the distribution of client deliverables.

Video Scripting & Production Support

Assist in scripting video content for BrandLabs campaigns, including explainer videos, interview formats, virtual panel discussions and more.
Support video shoots and interviews — including research briefs for anchors/moderators/speakers, question banks, and on-camera coordination — and be comfortable stepping in front of the camera when required.
Coordinate with the video/production team on shot lists, timelines, and post-production feedback to ensure the final cut aligns with the client's brief.

Event Support

Support BrandLabs' event-linked deliverables by assisting with speaker research, briefing documents, and run-of-show content.
Assist with pre- and post-event content: promotional copy, recap articles, and social content that extends the shelf life of an event for the client.

Professional Traits

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism or Mass Communication.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Atleast 3 years of experience in business content writing/production — ideation, scripting, packaging, and more.
Well-versed with Google Docs, Google Sheets, WordPress, and SEO.
Startup-savvy, with a strong business news sense.
Excellent time management skills, able to work seamlessly within deadlines — individually and within teams.
Ability to organise, prioritise, and schedule work assignments efficiently.
Strong research and analytical skills, with working knowledge of social media content creation and marketing/email communication.

Good to Have

Prior experience working with branded content / native advertising setup.
An existing network or working familiarity with founders, investors, and operators in the startup ecosystem.
Working proficiency in using AI tools for content creation — such as Claude, Meta AI, and others — to speed up research, drafting, and ideation without compromising editorial judgement.
Experience conducting video interviews, or confidence and an 'on-air' presence in front of a camera.
Desk and rewriting experience for a business publication is an added bonus.
Working familiarity with basic video editing workflows to brief editors and give precise post-production feedback.
Experience in emceeing live events and keeping the audience engaged.
Working knowledge of content performance/analytics tools (Google Analytics, social insights) to gauge what's landing with readers.
A genuine urge to be part of the execution team of large scale events like summits, retreats and willingness to take up any role that contributes towards its success in any capacity.
